TEMPTING DASH SETS TRACK RECORD IN WINNING

GRADE 1, $445,185 DASH FOR CASH FUTURITY

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Oct. 24, 2009)   Jose Ramiro Villareal’s Tempting Dash, trained by Eusevio Huitron and ridden by Julian Cantu, set a track record of 19.379 seconds for 400 yards to win the Grade 1, $445,185 Dash for Cash Futurity, for 2-year-olds, over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday night.  With the victory, trainer Eusevio Huitron swept both Grade 1 stakes of the night, the Futurity and the $202,200 Dash for Cash Derby.

 

            The previous track record of 19.452 seconds was set just two weeks ago on Oct. 10 in the trials for tonight’s Futurity by Swingin Daddyo, who finished fifth but was moved up to fourth due to the disqualification of Chicks Jess Call Me in the final.

 

            Tempting Dash, a sorrel son of First Down Dash, out ran the other nine top qualifiers for tonight’s stake and earned a Speed Index of 107 in finishing ¾-length in front of second-place First Corona Call.  It was another ¾-length back to Streakin Down in third.

 

            With the win, Tempting Dash is two-for-two lifetime, including his victory in the trials, and increased his career earnings to $180,088 with the $178,078 winner’s share.

 

            Tempting Dash paid $9.80, $5.60, $4.20, First Corona Call returned $5.20, $4.40, and Streakin Down paid $4.00 for show. 

 

            * Chicks Jess Call Me, Swingin Daddyo, Sweetest Trick, Diamond for Jess, Happy Trick, Boondock Saint, and Eye Got the Blues completed the order of finish.  * Chicks Jess Call Me was disqualified from fourth and placed seventh.

Runs Down Early Leader A Fitting Way to Win by a Length

 

The Zand Ltd. Partnership’s Gols Victory Pop, trained by Lone Star Park leading-trainer Trey Wood and ridden by Ricky Ramirez, ran down the early leader A Fitting Way to win the 6th Running of the $49,465 Dash for Cash Juvenile Stakes for 2-year-olds over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday night.

 

            Gols Victory Pop, a sorrel son of Gol, got off to a slow start before accelerating throughout the 400-yard distance to stop the teletimer at 19.587 seconds earning a Speed Index of 102.  Ps Stoned Excitement also caught the early leader in deep stretch to finish a length behind the winner.  A Fitting Way held on for third another ½ length back.

 

            With the win, Gols Victory Pop improved his lifetime record to four wins from six starts and, with the winner’s share of $15,109, increased his career earnings to $83,663.

           

            Gols Victory Pop paid $5.00, $3.20, $2.60, Ps Stoned Excitement returned $7.60, $3.20, and A Fitting Way paid $3.40 to show.

 

            Winning Gol, Southern Hills, Shake Em Special Pop, A Noble Jess, and La Jolla Street completed the order of finish.  Ragazzo and Corona Mild were scratched.

 

Lone Star Park’s 31-day, 2008 Quarter Horse Fall Meeting of Champions will be held from September 26 to November 29.  Live racing will be held every Thursday through Saturday in October and each Wednesday through Saturday in November, except Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 26-27 when there will be no live racing due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  First post time for all dates will be 6:35 p.m., except for Oct. 11, when the first post will be 5:30 p.m.   For more information, visit the track’s Web site at www.lonestarpark.com.
