GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (October 22, 2009) – Richard Shearer’s First Corona Call, trained by Trey Wood, and Debra Gotovac’s Swingin Daddyo, trained by Brad Bolen, square off in the 11th running of the Grade 1, $445,185 Dash for Cash Futurity, to be run at 400 yards, for two-year-olds at Lone Star Park on Saturday Night.
First Corona Call, the third-place finisher in the Grade 1, $1.9 million All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs on September 7 and a winner of three of nine starts for $208,942, has been installed as the 2-1 morning line favorite by Lone Star Park’s morning line oddsmaker Rick Lee. Regular rider Freddie Martinez ships in for the ride.
Swingin Daddyo, the fastest qualifier in the Dash for Cash Futurity trials held at Lone Star Park on Oct. 10, has been listed at 3-1 on the morning line. After bobbling at the start, Swingin Daddyo finished sixth in the All American Futurity, only ¾ length behind First Corona Call.
Another of note in the Dash for Cash Futurity is the Eddie Willis-trained Streakin Down, a winner of 4 of 6 starts for $212,208 in earnings, who was beaten a nose in the Grade 1, $1.1 million Heritage Place Futurity at Remington Park on May 30.

Jerry Windham’s Stolis Winner, trained by Heath Taylor, headlines the 11th running of the Grade 1, $202,200 Dash for Cash Derby, to be run at 440 yards, for 3-year-olds at Lone Star Park on Saturday night.
A winner of eight of 12 career starts, Stolis Winner was the fastest qualifier in the Dash for Cash Derby trials held at Lone Star Park on October 9. The Bay son of Stoli is 2-for-2 racing at Lone Star Park and was the fastest qualifier in the Texas Classic Futurity before an injury kept him from competing in the final in 2008.

Stablemate Jess Zoomin might prove to be Stolis Winner’s biggest threat. A winner of three of six career starts for $488,573 in earnings, Jess Zoomin finished second in the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity and third in the Grade 1 All American Futurity already this year.
Also of note, is the Robert Touchet-trained Mr Jess Perrier, a winner of 7 of 15 career starts for $47,031 in earnings, Mr Jess Perrier has won two of three starts at Lone Star Park was the second fastest qualifier for the Dash for Cash Derby.

Looks to Become Half-Millionaire with Win on Saturday
Jorge Haddad & Carlos Lozano’s Ragazzo, winner of the Grade1, $1.1 million Heritage Place Futurity at Remington Park in May, has been made the 3-1 favorite by track oddsmaker Rick Lee in Saturday’s 6th Running of the $49,465 Dash for Cash Juvenile Stakes for 2 year-olds at Lone Star Park.
Trained by Eddie Willis, Ragazzo will be ridden by Roy Brooks in the 400-yard contest. The 2-year-old, sorrel son of Shazoom has a career record of four wins from six starts with $488,965 in lifetime earnings. The winner’s share of $12,366 would move him past the $500,000 plateau in career earnings.
Ragazzo’s main competition should come from the trio of the Zand Ltd. Partnership’s Gols Victory Pop, second in the morning line at 7-2; Gary Potts & Carl Smith’s A Fitting Way (4-1); and Juan Tinajero’s La Jolla Street (6-1).
In the trials on Oct. 10, La Jolla Street ran the 13th fastest time (19.738 seconds), A Fitting Way was 14th (19.763), Ragazzo 15th (19.766 seconds) and Gols Victory Pop qualified with the 23rd best time of 19.836 seconds.
