Stolis Winner Top Dash For Cash Derby Qualifier; Lake View Dreams Wins Kool Kue Baby Handicap

FASTEST QUALIFYING TIME

IN DASH FOR CASH DERBY TRIALS

 

Runs 440 Yards in 21.225 Seconds

to Finish as Top Qualifier

 

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, Oct. 9, 2009)   Stolis Winner, owned by Jerry Windham and trained by Heath Taylor, was the fastest qualifier with a 440-yard time of 21.225 to earn a speed index of 104 in the trials for the Grade 1, $202,200 Dash for Cash Derby over a good track on Friday night at Lone Star Park.  The Dash for Cash Derby will be run on Saturday, Oct. 24.

 

In his last appearance at Lone Star Park on Nov. 15, 2008, Stolis Winner was also the fastest qualifier for last year’s Grade 1, $1.15 Texas Classic Futurity, a race that he had to scratch from due to injury.  G. R. Carter, who also rode the final qualifier Jess Zoomin for trainer Heath Taylor, guided the 3-year-old son of Stoli to victory in the fourth of the six trials held on Friday night. 

 

The other nine finalists (in order with time, jockey and trainer in parenthesis) for the Dash For Cash Derby are:

 

Mr Jess Perrier (21.374, David Alvarez, Robert Touchet);

Fearless Fritz (21.427, Larry Payne, Guillermo Valdivia);

Plain Shady (21.437, Cody Wainscott, Bradley Bolen);

Dashazoom (21.458, Ricky Ramirez, Trey Wood);

Zupers Quick Dash (21.489, Jerrod Deschamp, Bobby Martinez);

Charel Kid (21.498, Santos Carrizales, Eusevio Huitron);

It’s a Black Oak (21.518, Cipriano Vidana, Hector Rodriguez);

Shazooms Glory Dash (21.542, Rodrigo Vallejo, Joe Garza)

Jess Zoomin (21.548, G. R. Carter, Heath Taylor);

 

Lethal Delight, just missed qualifying by only five-thousandths of a second (.005) with a time of 21.553 seconds.

 

                

 

LAKE VIEW DREAMS WINS 

KOOL KUE BABY HANDICAP

 

 

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, Oct. 9, 2009)   Randy and Sandy Coleman’s Lake View Dreams, trained by Trey Wood and ridden by Ricky Ramirez, was a decisive winner in the 11th running of the $15,000 Kool Kue Baby Handicap for fillies and mares, three years old and up, at Lone Star Park on Friday night.

 

            Lake View Dreams led every step of the way in covering the three hundred and fifty yards in 17.178, earning a speed index of 111.  Miss Kips Streakin finished a length behind in second, and it was another head back to Bringnucandyandroses in third.

 

            With the win, Lake View Dreams improved her lifetime record to five wins from 10 starts and the $8,250 winner’s share of the purse increased her career earnings to $73,804.

 

            Lake View Dreams paid $8.20, $4.40 and $3.40, runner up Miss Kips Streakin returned $4.20 and $2.60, and Bringnucandyandroses paid $7.20 to show.  Wowzer Won, Zimalue, Pickmeuponurwaydown, Xo Kate, Sixes La Jolla, Surviving Success, and Ja Impetuously completed the order of finish.

 

     Lone Star Park’s 2009 Quarter Horse Fall Meeting of Champions runs from Sept. 25 to Nov. 28.  After opening weekend on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25-26, racing will be held every Thursday through Saturday, except Thursday, Nov. 26 when there will be no live racing due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  First post time for all dates will be 6:35 p.m.  For more information on Lone Star Park visit LoneStarPark.com.
