Slick Little Beduino Rushes To Victory In Gridiron Gallop

Sets Track Record For 100 Yards

 

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009)   Slick Little Beduino, owned by Danny R. Caldwell, and trained by Alvin Lee Turner, won the 10th Running of the $15,000, 100-yard, Gridiron Gallop Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward, over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday night. 

 

             With Rudy Bustamante in the irons, the sorrel son of  Struttin to Beduino broke sharp and finished fast to beat his nine opponents while tripping the teletimer in 6.343, a new track record, good for a speed index of 108.  Calientes Wrangler finished a head back in second and it was another head back to last years Gridiron Gallop winner, Anna Pavlova, in third.

 

             With the win, Slick Little Beduino improved his record to nine wins from 23 starts, and increased his career earnings to $80,655 with the $8,250 winner’s share of the purse.

 

 Slick Little Beduino paid $16.00, $5.40, $4.20, runner-up Calientes Wrangler returned $8.00, $7.40, and Anna Pavlova paid $9.40 for show.  Thebabeisback, Check On Chico, Zoomin Winner, Sought After, Xo Kate, San Ridge Kid and Vodka With Ice completed the order of finish.

 

Lone Star Park’s 2009 Quarter Horse Fall Meeting of Champions runs from Sept. 25 to Nov. 28. After opening weekend on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25-26, racing will be held every Thursday through Saturday, except Thursday, Nov. 26 when there will be no live racing due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
