Two Divisions of Mandolynn Hill Farm Arabian Stallion Stakes Featured on Friday Night Card

 

BURNING FANCY SET FOR ANOTHER

LONE STAR PARK STAKES SCORE

IN FILLY & MARE DIVISION

 

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009)   Burning Fancy, owned by Marvin Powell and trained by Jerry Partin, seeks her second consecutive stakes victory at the 2009 Lone Star Park Fall Meeting of Champions in the 2nd running of the seven-furlong, Grade 3, $19,500 Mandolynn Hill Farm Stallion Stakes, for Arabian fillies and mares three-years-old and upward, on Friday night.

 

            A winner of 4 of 6 starts with two seconds for $29,840 in earnings, the gray daughter of Burning Sand, has won her last three races by more than 47 lengths combined, and has been installed as the 2-5 morning line favorite by oddsmaker Rick Lee. 

 

Jessys Princess, the winner of this event in 2008 who finished second behind Burning Fancy in the Rancho Milagro Yegua Arabian Stakes at Lone Star Park on Oct. 17 by more than 11 lengths, has been made the 4-1 second choice on the morning line.

 

The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds listed in parenthesis, consists of:  Ooh Lay La (Roxane Losey, 30-1), Djenteel (William Hollick, 20-1), Chays Zell MKP (Ivan Arellano, 20-1), Lori Anne (Kristin Shehorn, 30-1), Jessys Princess (Jeremy Collier, 4-1), Get Her Done (Rita Helton, 50-1), MW Bonnie Z (Cody Wainscott, 12-1), WMA Sugar N Spice (Manual Lara, 15-1), and Burning Fancy (Kelsi Purcell, 2-5).

 

            Scheduled as race three on the nine-race program, the Mandolynn Hill Farm Stallion Stakes (Fillies & Mares Division) has an approximate post time of 7:23 p.m.

 

 

COMPETITIVE FIELD OF 14 SET FOR

COLTS & GELDINGS DIVISION

 

By Golly Sand, winner of this event in 2007 and fifth last year, returns to take another shot in the 3rd running of the seven-furlong, Grade 3, $19,500 Mandolynn Hill Farm Stallion Stakes, for Arabian colts and geldings three-years-old and upward, at Lone Star Park on Friday night.

 

            Owned by Sam Vasquez and trained by Elizabeth Brand, the gray son of Burning Sand finished a disappointing sixth when he gave way late in his most recent start in the Estrellita Ranch Arabian Stakes at Lone Star Park on Oct.17.  A winner of 17 of 48 career starts for $116,473 in earnings, By Golly Sand will look to bounce back to his best form with Jeremy Collier shipping in for the mount.

 

            By Golly Sand will face a three-pronged challenge from the Warren Shelley-owned, Helen Shelley-trained entry of So Big is Better, Le Fromage, and Qjuick Sand PW.   So Big is Better ships in from Delaware Park boasting a career record of nine wins from 21 starts for $99,552 in earnings.  Le Fromage finished first in the Estrellita Ranch Arabian Stakes on Oct. 17, more than 12 lengths in front of By Golly Sand, while Qjuick Sand PW sports a career race record of 22-7-5-3 for $117, 049 in earnings.

 

            The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds listed in parenthesis, consists of:  Auroras Rainbeau (Gaspar Garcia, 30-1), Sizedoesntmatter (Kelsi Purcell, 12-1), Ala Bout Me (Jorge Guzman, 20-1), Frynge Benefit (Cathleen Garner, 4-1), So Big is Better (Roxane Losey, 6-5), Status Symboll (Jesus Salazar, 30-1), Le Fromage (Charles Fletcher Jr., 6-5), By Golly Sand (Jeremy Collier, 8-1), Bush Hog (Ivan Arellano, 20-1), Golly Bret (Tad Leggett, 8-1), Moulin Rouge MAF (Cody Wainscott, 6-1), Qjuick Sand PW (Kristin Shehorn, 6-5), Cromwell (William Hollick, 15-1), and Buddy of Mine (Rita Helton, 15-1).  So Big is Better, Le Fromage, and Qjuick Sand will run as a three-horse entry, and By Golly Sand and Golly Bret will also be coupled.

 

Scheduled as race four on the nine-race program, the Mandolynn Hill Farm Stallion Stakes (Colts & Geldings Division) has an approximate post time of 7:47 p.m.

 

Lone Star Park’s 2009 Quarter Horse Fall Meeting of Champions runs until Nov. 28 with racing every Thursday through Saturday, except Thursday, Nov. 26 when there will be no live racing due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
