Lacy Crazy Vaz Takes Colts And Geldings Division Of Mandolynn Hill Stallion Futurity

 

             GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, Nov. 11, 2009)   Lacy Crazy Vaz, owned by Sam Vasquez, and trained by Juan Ascencio, won the $20,000 Mandolynn Hill Stallion Futurity, for three-year-old Arabian colts and geldings, over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday night.

 

             With Gaspar Garcia in the irons, the bay son of Chndaka was able to overcome getting bumped at the start before cruising to a decisive two and a half length victory over race favorite Chinaactic, it was another two lengths behind to Raineman in third.  The final time for the six-furlong distance was 1:20.42.

 

            In Victory, Lacy Crazy Vaz earned his second win from three starts and increased his earning to $16,240.

 

           Lacy Crazy Vaz paid $5.60, $3.60, $3.20, runner-up Chinaactic returned $2.40, $3.00, and Raineman paid $4.80 for show. Dacotah Dancer, Chriss SWA, Flyin Bob, and Cholly Roger SWA completed the order of finish.

 

 

FIRST TIME STARTER WINS FILLIES DIVISION OF MANDOLYNN HILL FUTURITY

 

In the female division, First Time Starter Alla Masquerade rallied from seventh to first in a field of eight to prove best in the $20,000 Mandolynn Hill Futurity, for three-year-old Arabian fillies and mares, over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday night.

 

            The bay daughter of Ala Croixnoire only had one horse behind her after the opening quarter mile before producing a strong rally to win by a two and a quarter length margin.  She completed her six furlong assignment in 1:20.21, just over a fifth of a second faster than her male counterparts one race earlier on the card. Well Liked finished second, and it was another three lengths back to Zakora in third.

 

            In winning her debut, Alla Masquerade earned $12,000 for owner Ed Wilson and trainer Elizabeth Brand.

 

            Alla Masquerade paid $44.80, $25.60, $9.00, runner-up Well Liked returned $15.40, $7.00, and Zakora paid $4.60 for show. Paris Affaire, Chnkira, French Silke, Quick Kittie, and Ella MHF completed the order of finish.

 

Lone Star Park’s 2009 Quarter Horse Fall Meeting of Champions runs from Sept. 25 to Nov. 28. After opening weekend on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25-26, racing will be held every Thursday through Saturday, except Thursday, Nov. 26 when there will be no live racing due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
