Four Men and Two Women Make Up “Team Lone Star Park”
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Oct. 30, 2009) – Six local residents from Dallas, Ft. Worth and Grand Prairie have earned a free trip to Las Vegas for the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship (NHC) by finishing at the top of the standings in the finals of the Lone Star Park Handicapping Championship on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Four men and two women will represent Lone Star Park at the 11th DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship, which takes place on Jan. 29-30, 2010 at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas. The total purse for the event is estimated at $1 million.
In the Lone Star Park finals, Thomas Fuller of Dallas finished with the highest bankroll of $8,943.80 and earned the top prize of $1,500. The next five finishers – Audrey Ruedas (Dallas); Jason Gibbons (Dallas); Beverly Mosier (Ft. Worth); Richard Polishuk (Dallas); and Mohamad Farhat (Grand Prairie) – each won $500 plus the trip to Las Vegas.
Lone Star Park held three qualifying tournament on Feb. 7, April 4, and July 25 to determine 150 finalists for the Oct. 24 event.
Following are the final standings from the Lone Star Park Handicapping Championship for the six qualifiers for the national championship --

3) Jason Gibbons – Dallas ($5,153.20)
4) Beverly Mosier - Ft. Worth ($3,788.70)
5) Richard Polishuk – Dallas ($3,475.60)
6) Mohamad Farhat - Grand Prairie ($2,699.70)
The seventh-place finisher had a bankroll of $2,531.50.
Lone Star Park’s 2009 Quarter Horse Fall Meeting of Champions runs from Sept. 25 to Nov. 28. After opening weekend on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25-26, racing will be held every Thursday through Saturday, except Thursday, Nov. 26 when there will be no live racing due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
