Flaunts Brilliant Speed in Dusting Her Six Opponents
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (July 26, 2008) – Baccari Racing Stable LLC’s Seacrettina, trained by Joe Petalino, was a sharp gate-to-finish winner of the 12th running of the $75,000 Silver Spur Stakes for two-year-old fillies going six furlongs over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday.
Ridden by Ken Tohill, Seacrettina was able to make the early lead without being asked and cruised through opening fractions of :22.47 and 45.67. When challenged by runner-up finisher Time Well Spent at the top of the stretch, Seacrettina responded with a powerful stretch run to stop the timer in 1:10.49. It was six-and-a-quarter lengths back to Time Well Spent in second and race favorite Bridesmaid finished six lengths that in third.
“I actually got to put her to sleep on the lead. She’s so much horse. It was fairly effortless for her today,” said winning rider Ken Tohill. “She’s a very impressive filly. She was so relaxed, just galloping out there. All I had to do was kick her in gear. She’s the real deal.”
With the win, Seacrettina improved her record to two-for-two, and increased her career earnings to $59,280.
Seacrettina paid $8.00, $4.20, $2.80, runner-up Time Well Spent returned $3.80, $2.80, and Bridesmaid paid $2.20 for show. Peach Brew, Monica’s Skirmish, Naughty N Pg, and Mary’s Place completed the order of finish.
