Abelino Rojas' Sixes Sign Sets New Lone Star Park Track Record for 300 Yards

 

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Sept. 26, 2009)  Abelino Rojas’ Sixes Sign, trained by Javier Noel Contreras and ridden by Gaspar Garcia, established a new Lone Star Park track record of 15.171 seconds, with a Speed Index of 110, for 300 yards in Saturday night’s sixth race, a $6,000 allowance event.

 

The 3-year-old Sorrel son of Streakin Sixes out of the Vital Sign mare Katies Sign surpassed the previous record of 15.330 set by Perfectly Aged on Oct. 19, 2002 while breaking his maiden in only his second career start.

 

Sixes Sign finished 1-¾ lengths ahead of second-place finisher Rc Red Velvet and paid $24.60, $8.40 and $7.20.

 

Lone Star Park’s 2009 Quarter Horse Fall Meeting of Champions will be held from Sept. 25 to Nov. 28.  After the opening weekend on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25-26, racing will be held every Thursday through Saturday, except Thursday, Nov. 26 when there will be no live racing due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  First post time for all dates will be 6:35 p.m.  For more information on Lone Star Park visit LoneStarPark.com.
