GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (July 9, 2010) -- Lone Star Park was forced to cancel the last three races on Friday night due to a tote malfunction, which was caused when the primary and backup phone lines went down prior to the sixth race.
After a 19-minute delay, the sixth race was run and payouts were calculated manually. The source of the problem with the phone lines had not been identified when the remaining races were cancelled.
The malfunction prevented the tote board and televisions from exhibiting odds and payoffs, and disabled most of the mutuel terminals in the grandstand. Terminals in the Post Time Pavilion and in limited areas of the grandstand, which are on a different phone network, continued to operate after the malfunction.
All single-race wagers for Races 7 through 9 were refunded. For multi-race wagers (Pick 3, Pick 4 and Pick 5), payoffs were made for all horses in each of the last three races.
Racing resumes at Lone Star Park on Saturday, July 10 with a first post time of 1:35 p.m.
Lone Star Park’s 2010 Spring Thoroughbred Season will run four days a week every Thursday and Friday at 6:35 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 1:35 p.m. through July 18.
