26,519 On Hand Friday Night Is Largest Post-Race Concert Ever
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, June 9, 2012)– A throng of 26,519 fans converged at Lone Star Park Friday night for the Eli Young Band concert, the largest crowd ever for a regular post-race concert at the Grand Prairie track. The previous high was the Lone Stars & Stripes fireworks celebration concert on July 4, 2003 featuring Charlie Robison (26,318).

The crowd was the ninth highest ever since Lone Star Park opened in 1997. The numbers for those days were:

The final attendance count of 26,519 topped the previous all-time high of 24,152 that turned out for a post-race concert (excluding fireworks) by Eli Young Band Friday, June 10, 2011.
Following the final live race of the night, the hugely popular country music band based in Denton, Texas, took to the stage around 11:00 p.m. Their show rocked on for an hour and a half, until closing with a Lynyrd Skynyrd cover around 12:30 a.m.
The final three concerts in the Lone Star Music Series will be held July 3 (Pat Green), July 6 (Josh Abbott Band) and July 7 (Billy Currington). Make plans to join us.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Global Gaming Solutions LLC, offers a 53-day 2012 Spring Thoroughbred Season which opens Thursday, April 12 and concludes on Sunday, July 8. Live racing will be held four days a week, Thursday and Friday at 6:35 p.m. (except Thursday, May 31 and Thursday, July 5 when there will be no live racing), and Saturday and Sunday at 1:35 p.m. The racing program on Memorial Day, May 28, will start at 1:35 p.m. Special twilight programs will be held at 5 p.m. on both Tuesday, July 3 (with post-race concert by award-winning country artist Pat Green) and Wednesday, July 4 (with the Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration).
The track’s 26-day, 2012 Fall Meeting of Champions for American Quarter Horses will be held from Sept. 14 to Nov. 10.
Lone Star Park is also home to the multi-million dollar simulcast racebook, sports bar and event venue, Bar & Book. The 36,000 square foot venue is open to the public 363 days a year.
