28 ENTERED IN TRIALS SATURDAY FOR GRADE 1 LONE STAR SPEEDHORSE PAINT & APPALOOSA FUTURITY

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, October 12, 2012)  - Saturday night’s trials for the Grade 1, $50,000 added, Lone Star Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity has attracted a total of 28 entries. The trials will be run at the distance of 400 yards and are scheduled as races five through seven. The nine-race slate has a first-race post time of 6:35 p.m.  Scheduled post time for the first of the trials is 8:11 p.m. (CDT). The final will be contested Saturday, November 3, 2012.

 Entries of note in the Lone Star Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity Trials are:

 

  • ·In race five, Lajollas Mr Big Stuff, trained by Dee Keener, owns a race record of 10-5-2-0 and has the highest earnings in this heat with $112,729.  The gelding by Royal Quick Flash proved best in the Grade 1, $109,988 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, at Fair Meadows August 4.  Imachickenkicker, trained by Luis Villafranco, has bankrolled  $43,247 in lifetime earnings and a race record of 8-2-2-1.  Jess Dance, a gelding by Awesome Chrome, is trained by Sandra Garnett and has one win, two seconds and a third from five lifetime starts. He draws a favorable outside post in this trial.
  • ·Race six features the Dee Keener-trained Appocalypto, a winning favorite in the Grade I, $38,033 Cricket Bars ApHc Futurity at Will Rogers Downs on September 29, and the Kasey Willis-conditioned Overdosed, has only one win from eight lifetime starts, but has a top rider in Roy Baldillez for this trial heat.  Winners Winner has one win and two seconds from three lifetime starts. The colt by Awesome Chrome, was second last May in the Grade 2, Colors of Houston Futurity at Sam Houston and just missed by a neck in the Colors of the Alamo Paint and Appaloosa Futurity August 4 at Retama Park.
  • ·In race seven, the Brian Muse-trained Honky Tonk Podie, winner of his last two starts, July 29 at Fair Meadows and most recently, September 28 at Will Rogers Downs takes on the Eddie Willis-trained Laus Deo, a filly by Awesome Chrome. She comes off of a lay-off after a third place finish at Remington Park last May following her win the Grade 1, Oklahoma Paint Horse Futurity March 17 also at Remington.

    On The Track: More live racing action Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 18, 19 and 20, 2012. Featured races of the week will be the Grade 1, Texas Classic Derby Trials on Friday, October 19, and the Grade 1, Texas Classic Futurity Trials on Saturday, October 20, 2012.
