Randy Rogers Band and Gary Allan to Kick Off Opening Weekend
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (February 8, 2013) - Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie’s fifth consecutive Lone Star Music Series line-up includes nine concerts during the 2013 Spring Thoroughbred Season, for the second year in a row. Opening weekend features appearances by thepopular Randy Rogers Band, Friday, April 12 and Gary Allan on Saturday, April 13.
MCA recording artist, Gary Allan’s current album, “Set You Free” is currently No. 1 on the Country Music chart for a second week in a row, after debuting at the top spot on both the Country Music chart and Top 200 Chart, two weeks ago.
The series also includes the Casey Donahew Band on Friday, April 26, Josh Turner on Saturday, April 27, Stoney LaRue on Friday, May 3, the Josh Abbott Band on Friday, June 7, Wade Bowen & Kyle Park on Friday, June 28, plus closing weekend performances by Pat Green on Friday, July 5 and Billy Currington on Saturday, July 6.
The stage for each concert will be situated outdoors, just outside the racing surface, in front of the sun-shaded Courtyard of Champions. The lawn area is standing room only and there is limited patio table seating in the Courtyard.
The concerts will be free with the regular $5 general admission charge before 9 p.m. on Friday nights and 5 p.m. on Saturday nights. Admission is $20 after 9 p.m. on Friday nights and 5 p.m. on Saturday nights. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. on Friday nights and the first live race is at 6:35 p.m. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays and first live race is at 1:35 p.m.
Lone Star Park will continue to enforce an 18 years of age and older policy for all concerts. Persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Special VIP concert packages will be available for the Randy Rogers Band, Gary Allan, Josh Turner, Pat Green and Billy Currington and will be available on line only beginning February 18 at LoneStarPark.com.
Priced at $62 or $72 with valet parking (plus tax and handling), the packages include admission, racing program, reserved seats with buffet and twobeer tickets on the covered Veranda and admittance to the special VIP section in front of the stage for the concerts. The popular Lone Star Music Series drew 132,456 fans in 2012 in a combined 9-concert series.
Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Global Gaming Solutions LLC, offers a 50-day 2013 Spring Thoroughbred Season which opens Thursday, April 11 and concludes on Saturday, July 6. Live racing will be held four days a week, Thursday and Friday at 6:35 p.m. (except Thursday, May 30, Sunday, June 23 and Sunday, June 30 when there will be no live racing), and Saturday and Sunday at 1:35 p.m. The racing program on Memorial Day, May 27, will start at 1:35 p.m. Special twilight programs will be held at 5 p.m. on both Wednesday, July 3 and Thursday, July 4 (Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration). The track’s 26-day, 2013 Fall Meeting of Champions for American Quarter Horses will be held from Sept. 13 to Nov. 9.
