Breaks Track Record Set In Lone Star Park’s Inaugural Fall Meeting Of Champions Season

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, October 18, 2013) – What a performance by Jody Pops Zoomer! The three-year-old gelding by Zoomin for Bux, not only was the fastest qualifier for the $394,306 Grade 1, Texas Classic Derby, but did in it track record fashion clocking the 440 yards in 21.075 over a fast track Friday at Lone Star Park.

In the eighth race tonight, Jody Pops Zoomer, owned by Gary and Randal Kurz and trained by Toby Keeton, bobbled a bit at the break, but a couple of jumps later there was no catching him. The impressive effort earned him a speed index of 104, and of course, solidified his place in the Derby final.

Note: The previous 440 yard record of 21.080 was set by Dashing Perfection in the Texas Classic Derby on November 29, 1997.
