Josh Abbott Band and Gary Allan Kick-Off Opening Weekend April 11-12
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Monday, February 10, 2014)– Each year, the Lone Star Music Series at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie draws some of the top bands from around the country and this year’s line-up will offer chart-topping fan favorites and new faces. The popular Lone Star Music Series drew over 115,000 fans in 2013 in a combined 9-concert series.
The excitement which surrounds the 2014 Spring Thoroughbred Season Opening Weekend will be underlined with two top music acts:
- Friday, April 11- Texas Country musician Josh Abbott Band, a long-time Lone Star fan favorite, will be making his fourth appearance at Lone Star Park.
- Saturday, April 12- Nashville MCA recording artist Gary Allan will return, marking his fifth appearance at the Grand Prairie track.
The music calendar for the remainder of the Lone Star Music Series includes:

“For our sixth consecutive Lone Star Music Series season, we wanted to ensure music fans from across the Metroplex would find ‘not to miss’ evenings at Lone Star Park. We’re pleased to welcome back our crowd-pleasing acts as well as introduce some new talent. Lone Star Series Music Series Setting and Tickets
The stage for each concert is situated outdoors, just outside the racing surface, in front of the sun-shaded Courtyard of Champions. The lawn area is standing room only and there is limited patio table seating in the Courtyard.
All concerts are free with paid $5 general admission before 8 p.m. and $20 after 8 p.m. New this year, Lone Star Park has announced a 6:35 p.m. first race post time on Saturday nights as opposed to midday post times in years past. Gates will open at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays.
Once again, Lone Star Park will enforce an 18 years of age and older policy for all concerts. Persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Special VIP Live Racing/Concert packages will be available for Josh Abbott Band, Gary Allan, Chris Young, Randy Rogers Band, .38 Special, Easton Corbin and Justin Moore.
Priced at $62 or $72 with valet parking (plus tax and handling,) the packages include admission to the horse races, racing program, reserved seats with buffet and two beer tickets on the covered Veranda and admittance to the special VIP section in front of the stage for the concerts. Josh Abbott Band (Friday, April 11) is an American Texas Country band. In 2009, the band recorded and released their first album "Scapegoat." A second album, “She's Like Texas,” followed in 2010, where it made the Billboard Top Country Albums charts. This album includes the single "Oh, Tonight", which debuted at number 59 and peaked at 42 on the Country Songs charts in early 2011. The song is a duet with Nashville Star season 5 finalist and recent Grammy winning artist, Kacey Musgraves. The band's third CD, “Small Town Family Dream,” was released in 2012. Other singles released from the album include "I'll Sing About Mine" and "She Will Be Free".
Gary Allan (Saturday, April 12) is an American Country music artist who made his debut on the United States country music scene with the release of his single "Her Man", the lead-off to his gold-certified debut album “Used Heart for Sale,” which was released in 1996. Overall, Allan's nine studio albums and Greatest Hits package have produced 26 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including four that reached Number One: "Man to Man" and "Tough Little Boys" in 2003, "Nothing On but the Radio" in 2004 and "Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)" in 2013. Seven more of his singles have reached the Top Ten on this chart as well: "Her Man", "It Would Be You", "Right Where I Need to Be", "The One", "Best I Ever Had" (a cover of a Vertical Horizon song), "Life Ain't Always Beautiful" and "Watching Airplanes".
Chris Young (Saturday, April 26) is a Nashville recording artist who will tour this spring with Brad Paisley and later this summer with Dierks Bentley. In 2006, Young won the popular Nashville Star television talent show, which earned him an RCA Nashville recording contract. He released his self-titled debut album in 2006 which produced two popular hit songs “Drinkin’ Me Lonely” and “You’re Gonna Love Me.” Young’s second album “The Man I Want To Be” was released in 2009 and featured three #1 hits “Voices”, “Getting You Home (The Black Dress Song)” and “The Man I Want To Be.” Young’s third album released in 2011, “Neon,” produced two more #1 hits in “Tomorrow” and “You.” His fourth album “A.M.” was released last fall.
Turnpike Troubadours (Friday, May 2) is an American Red Dirt band from Oklahoma who recently has taken Texas by storm. They are signed to Bossier City Records and have released three studio albums. Their 2012 album “Goodbye Normal Street” peaked at #57 on the Billboard 200.
Randy Rogers Band (Friday, June 6) is an American Country music group from the state of Texas. They have recorded four studio albums and two live albums, and have charted seven singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. The Randy Rogers Band recorded its debut album, “Live at Cheatham Street Warehouse,” at a music hall of the same name in San Marcos, Texas. “Just a Matter of Time,” the band's first major-label album, was released on Mercury Nashville Records in 2006. "One More Sad Song" was released in late 2012. The song became the band's first Billboard Top 40 hit, and the first single from their sixth album, “Trouble.”
.38 Special (Saturday, June 7) is an original 80’s Southern Rock band featuring many Platinum and Gold award-winning songs. The band features over 20 million record sales including their arena-pop rock smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “‘Rockin’ Into The Night”, “Caught Up In You” and “Fantasy Girl.” The band made their only other Lone Star Park appearance on July 3, 2003 in front of 20,138 fans attending a post-race Lone Stars and Stripes Fireworks Festival.
Easton Corbin (Saturday, June 28) is a Mercury Records Nashville recording artist who released his self-titled debut album in 2010 featuring two #1 hits “A Little More Country Than That,” and “Roll With It” as well as the Top 15 hit “I Can’t Love You Back.” His second album “All Over The Road” was released in January 2013. Corbin has sold over 470,000 albums and over 2 million singles.
Justin Moore (Saturday, July 5) is an American Country music singer and songwriter signed by Big Machine Records imprint Valory Music Group in 2009. He has released three albums for Valory, a self-titled debut album in 2009 followed by “Outlaws Like Me” in 2011 and “Off The Beaten Path” last year. His #1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts include “Small Town USA”, “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away”, “Til My Last Day” and the Top 10 hits “Backwoods” and “Point At You.”
