Weekend Line Up Includes Two Stakes Races, Two Concerts and Much More!

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Wednesday, April 9, 2014)Spring Thoroughbred racing returns to Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie Thursday, April 10 through July 12. Opening weekend is packed with exciting Thoroughbred racing, great music and many more entertaining activities you won’t want to miss. Make plans to join us!

On Thursday, April 10, gates will open early at 4:30 p.m. with opening ceremonies set to get underway at approximately 5:45 p.m. First race post time is 6:35 p.m. Opening night’s featured fifth race on the nine-race program is the 18th running of the $50,000 Premiere Stakes. Approximate post time for the Premiere is 8:27 p.m.

Fans in attendance Thursday can enter the Premiere Stakes Handicapping Contest to win a $500 voucher by completing an official entry form with your winning selection for the $50,000 Premiere Stakes. Then just drop it into one of our contest bins before 6:15 p.m. One winner will be drawn from all correctly chosen entries.

Introducing Brews & Beards Thursday Nights! Featuring craft beers and our search for the best beards in the Metroplex taking place in our Courtyard of Champions!

Thursday, April 10 enjoy live music by Incognito! They will be performing on the Courtyard of Champions stage from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Friday, April 11 features nine live Thoroughbred races. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. First race post time is 6:35 p.m. The 2014 Lone Star Park Music Series kicks off with the Josh Abbott Band. They will take the stage after the final race of the night, approximately 11:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 12 features nine live Thoroughbred races highlighted by the $50,000 Wayne Hanks Memorial Stakes. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. First live race is 6:35 p.m. followed by multi-platinum selling MCA Nashville recording artist Gary Allen. He is set to take the stage after the last live race, approximately 11:00 p.m.

Also on Saturday, April 12, the Bar & Book features pay-per-view Pacquiao vs. Bradley 2! Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao challenges Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley in a rematch from one of the most controversial fights in boxing history! Catch all the action at Bar & Book

Additional promotions this season include the new Double Down Night, Saturday, April 19. Two bucks is all you need for two general admissions, two Lone Star Today programs, two soft drinks, two hot dogs or even an ice cold beer...just two bucks ALL night long. "Party at the Park" returns each Friday night in our Courtyard of Champions from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Enjoy the Metroplex's best live bands and $2 beer specials.

Sunday Discounts return with Senior Citizens’ Day. Seniors 62 years or older will receive One (1) Free General Admission at our Admission Gates every Sunday during the 2014 Spring Thoroughbred Season. The 50-date Spring Thoroughbred Season will run 14 weeks beginning Thursday, April 10 through Saturday, July 12 with live racing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 6:35 p.m. CDT and Sunday afternoons at 1:35 p.m. CDT beginning April 27 thru June 15. Special holiday programs are also scheduled for Monday, May 26 (1:35 p.m. CDT), Friday, July 4 (5: 00 p.m. CDT) and all three Triple Crown dates--Saturday, May 3, 17 and June 7 (3:33 p.m. CDT) *(See boilerplate information below for more details).

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The track offers a 50-day 2014 Spring Thoroughbred Season, which opens Thursday, April 10 and concludes on Saturday, July 12.  Live racing will be held three days a week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 6:35 p.m. (except Thursday, May 29 when there will be no live racing), and Sundays at 1:35 p.m. (beginning April 27 through June 15.)
