GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Sunday, May 25, 2014) – Come join us at Lone Star Park for an exciting Memorial Day, Monday, May 26. It’s a very special day for everyone to celebrate and thank each and every American that has served our country. They are all heroes! And Lone Star Park plans to celebrate in a big way. Not only with exciting live racing, but with something fun for everyone to enjoy! Gates open at 11:30 a.m. First live race is at 1:35 p.m.

Memorial Day Activities at Lone Star Park include:

Jockeys & Java: Have you ever wanted to know what goes on in the stable area at the track? Come see for yourself! We are hosting Jockeys & Java before the races in our Courtyard of Champions. Enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast while you watch the horses work out on the track during their morning training. Track Announcer John Lies will interview jockey David Cabrera and jockey Natalie Turner. Afterward fans can take an in-depth tour of the stable area. For those of you interested, please enter through the Courtyard of Champion gates located on the West side of the Grandstand. Gates for this special event open at 8:30 a.m. Interviews will start at approximately 9:00 a.m. Shaded seating is available. Bus tours of the stable area will begin shortly after the track closes for morning training at 10:00 a.m.

Live Thoroughbred Racing: There are 10 live races featuring the 18th running of the $200k Grade III Lone Star Park Handicap. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. Opening Ceremonies lead by the 301st Fighter Wing Honor Guard will begin at approximately 1:05 p.m. First race post time is at 1:35 p.m.

Free Admission for all Military personnel: In honor of our veterans we are offering (1) FREE General Admission at our Admission Gates to all Military personnel. Just present your present your Military ID at the designated areas at our entrances to receive your coupon.

Live Music: Enjoy live music by Incognito on our Courtyard of Champions Stage from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Discounted Prices: The whole family can take advantage of our discounted prices. Soft Drinks and Hot Dogs will be just $1 each, all day long. Plus, grab an ice-cold beer for just $2 each! *Discounted 12 oz. beers located at concession stands on the first and second levels of the Grandstand and Courtyard of Champions only.

Family Fun Day: Kids of all ages can enjoy our expanded Family Fun Park from noon to 4:00 p.m. with pony rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses and other inflatable games, face painters and tattoo artists!

Memorial Day Challenge: Join us for exciting simulcast racing from Belmont Park, Churchill Downs, Santa Anita Park and live racing from Lone Star Park, featuring the Grade 3, Lone Star Park Handicap! Star Player Rewards members can pick the winners of the four selected stakes races from the list below using the kiosk on Memorial Day to earn 5,000 Bonus Points per race up to 20,000 Bonus Points (a $20 value)!*

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The track offers a 50-day 2014 Spring Thoroughbred Season, which opens Thursday, April 10 and concludes on Saturday, July 12.  Live racing will be held three days a week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 6:35 p.m. (except Thursday, May 29 when there will be no live racing), and Sundays at 1:35 p.m. (beginning April 27 through June 15.) The racing program on Memorial Day, May 26, will start at 1:35 p.m. A Special twilight program will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 4 (Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration). Special post times for three Triple Crown dates will begin at 3:33 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, May 17 and June 7 (Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes.) Lone Star Park is also home to the multi-million dollar simulcast racebook, sports bar and event venue, Bar & Book. The 36,000 square foot venue is open to the public 363 days a year.
