GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, April 11, 2015)Lasting Bubbles, the flashy gray mare owned by Judy Peek of Avery, Texas did not disappoint tonight. She posted her third consecutive victory in the $50,000 Wayne Hanks Memorial Stakes at Lone Star Park, the first horse ever to score three victories in the race.

Trained by Kevin Peek and ridden by Iram Vargas Diego, the seven-year-old mare by Pulling Punches, tracked the pace early to the outside, made a bid in the turn then took the lead at the three-sixteenths pole to edge clear in upper stretch.

“Prior to this race, in her last couple of performances she was little dull, just not really comfortable looking to me,” said trainer Kevin Peek. “I’ve been waiting for her to come back and when she got here it was like a breath of fresh air. She loves it here, she started here, she’s more comfortable here and she comes off of this track great. The last couple of days there’s been a light in her eyes and I started feeling a lot better about our shot here tonight.”

Tonight’s win was her sixth from 10 starts at the Grand Prairie track and 11th win from 30 career starts. Final time for the six and one half furlong contest was 1:16.90 over a fast track. Fractions were 22.76 and 45.58.

Lasting Bubbles added another $30,000 to her career earnings boosting the total to $403,418. Mutuels returned $3.20, $2.40 and $2.10. Early Fantasy was second returning $4.80 and $3.00. Third went to Platinum Song who returned $3.40. Infectious, Afoolsbrokenheart and Scooter’s Choice completed the order of finish.
