141st Run For The Roses, Family Fun Park, Best Hat Contest, PPV Boxing

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Don't miss the greatest two minutes in sports - the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 2. Watch and wager on the famed “Run for the Roses” simulcast live from Churchill Downs, plus 11 live Thoroughbred races scheduled at Lone Star Park. Grandstand Gates open early at 10:30 a.m. and the Bar & Book opens at 9:00 a.m. First race post time is 1:35 p.m. Simulcast of the Kentucky Derby is approximately 5:40 p.m.   

Of course you don’t want to miss the 141st running of the Kentucky Oaks live via simulcast on Friday, May 1. And while you’re here, why not get your wagers in early on Saturday’s Kentucky Derby? Advance wagering will be available all day Friday for Churchill’s Saturday Kentucky Derby Day card. Plus, we have a great live race card scheduled as well. The Grade 3, $200,000 Texas Mile, rescheduled from last Friday, headlines the 10 race live card. Bar & Book opens at 9:00 a.m. Grandstand Gates open at 5:00 p.m. First Race post time is 6:35 p.m. Approximate post time of the Kentucky Oaks is 4:49 p.m 

Additional Events Saturday at Lone Star Park:

Kentucky Derby Hat Contest! Be sure to wear your favorite Kentucky Derby hat and enter our traditional Kentucky Derby Day Hat Contest. We will be awarding two (2) Grand Prizes* for "The Most Stylish" and "The Most Creative" Kentucky Derby Hats. Both winners will each receive $500. Plus, three additional hats will receive an "Honorable Mention" prize. Judging begins at 3 p.m. in our Courtyard of Champions. *Must be present in the Courtyard by 3 p.m. to be considered. Family Fun Park! In addition to a great day of racing, there will be fun activities for the entire family with kid’s activities that include bounce houses, pony rides and a petting zoo in the Family Fun Park beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Live Music! Music lovers can enjoy live music with Deja Groove. They will be performing on our Courtyard of Champions Stage between live races from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.  

The PPV Fight of the Century! The festivities do not end after the races. Continuing in the Bar & Book and also in the Dash for Cash Room on the main level of the Grandstand, we will be showing the PPV Fight of the Century, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao! Join us after the Derby to watch the main event when Floyd "Money" Mayweather takes on Manny "Pac-Man" Pacquiao! $20 Cover Charge Per Person required.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The track offers a 50-day 2015 Spring Thoroughbred Season, which opens Thursday, April 9 and concludes on Sunday, July 19.  Live racing will be held three days a week, Friday & Saturday at 6:35 p.m. (except Triple Crown Days May 2, May 16 & June 6 which have a 1:35 p.m. start) and Sundays at 1:35 p.m. Live racing will be held on select Thursdays at 6:35 p.m. (April 9 & 23; June 18; July 16) The racing program on Memorial Day, May 25, will start at 1:35 p.m. A special twilight program will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 4 (Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration).
