GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Yes, you read that right! Sunday, May 17 is the first annual Lone Star “Bark” Day at the Grand Prairie track. Race fans can bring their dog out for live racing, $1 hot dogs, a chance to compete for cash in dog races and much more! Gates open at 11:30 am. First race post time is 1:35. Admission is just $5 and all dogs get in free!

Each dog that attends will receive a free Lone Star Bark bandana and their owners will receive a Lone Star Bark fire hydrant container with disposal bags inside.


So you think your dog is fast? Those in attendance Sunday could get a selected to compete in our dog races. For those who didn’t get a chance to register online, we will randomly select a few dogs to compete for cash. Top dog prize for first place is $200. Second place dog prize is $100.

The races will take place on the Lone Star Park turf course and will begin after the fourth Thoroughbred race at approximately 3:00 p.m.

Here are a few important details to help keep your canine companion safe and fully enjoy your day at the park:

  • All dogs must be on a leash at all times when on property.  
  • All dogs must remain outside at all times. No dogs will be allowed in the   Grandstand or Bar & Book facility.  
  • Owners are required to clean up their dogs accidents (i.e. plastic waste bags). A potty station and water station will be provided in a designated area.  
  • If your dog attacks another animal or human, you will be asked to leave immediately.   
  • No refunds will be provided.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The track offers a 50-day 2015 Spring Thoroughbred Season, which opens Thursday, April 9 and concludes on Sunday, July 19.  Live racing will be held three days a week, Friday & Saturday at 6:35 p.m. (except Triple Crown Days May 2, May 16 & June 6 which have a 1:35 p.m. start) and Sundays at 1:35 p.m. Live racing will be held on select Thursdays at 6:35 p.m. (April 9 & 23; June 18; July 16) The racing program on Memorial Day, May 25, will start at 1:35 p.m. A special twilight program will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 4 (Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration). Lone Star Park is also home to the multi-million dollar simulcast racebook, sports bar and event venue, Bar & Book. The 36,000 square foot venue is open to the public 363 days a year.
