• Stars of Texas Day: Saturday is a great day for liveracing! There are four stakes races featured on the 1o-race Saturday card worthover a combined $300,000 – the 18th Running of the $50k Valor FarmStakes for Texas-bred fillies & mares, three-year-olds & up going six furlongs on the main track; the 18thrunning of the $50k Assault Stakes for Texas-breds, three-year-olds & upgoing one mile on the main track; the 23rd running of the $100k TTASales Futurity for two-year-old fillies going five furlongs on the main track;and the 26th running of the $100k TTA Sales Futurity for two-year-oldcolts & geldings, also going five furlongs on the main track.

Additional notes: Not to jinx anything here, but with sevendays of live racing remaining it appears safe to say jockey CJ McMahon willtake home the riding title this meet. Through Sunday, July 5 he has 87 wins tohis credit. That is 45 wins ahead of David Cabrera, last year’s champion jockey,who is in second place with 42 wins. Cabrera is just one win in front of LoneStar Park’s all-time winningest jockey Cliff Berry, who is sitting third with41 wins… 2014’s leading trainer Karl Broberg has dominated again this meet and closeto capturing his second Lone Star Park title. He is in atop the standingscurrently with 61 wins. Two-time Lone Star Park Champion trainer Bret Calhoun (2010-11)is currently second with 42 wins. In third is Lone Star Park newcomer SheaStewart. Stewart has 25 wins….In the owner category, Danny Keene is lookingsolid for a second season title here (he won it in 2013). Keene has 34 winscompared to End Zone Athletics, in second with 21.
