GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas  – The largest crowd of the season, 20,054 fans, converged at Lone Star Park on Saturday for the 19th annual Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration. More than $1.1 million was wagered on-track, including $430,351 on the special 10-race live twilight program that began at 5:00 p.m.

The live racing program was accompanied by plenty of activities for the entire family, including live music by the Vegas Stars between races, pony rides, a petting zoo, carnival games, bounce houses, tattoo artist, clowns and more.

Following the final race of the night, 10 finalists were selected for a chance to win the 2015 Ford Mustang Giveaway. Each drew an envelope containing a remote entry key fob to try and open the door. It was Richie Delatorre of Fort Worth, Texas who drew the working remote and won the brand new flashy red Mustang. “I’ve never won anything, ever,” said Delatorre. “Thank you so much! This is the best night ever!”

Following the giveaway, one of the largest and most spectacular fireworks shows in North Texas got underway at 10:25 p.m. The 20-minute pyrotechnics show was choreographed to a rousing patriotic soundtrack provided by popular local radio station 99.5 The Wolf.

The crowd often broke into applause during the show and rose to their feet and cheered during the powerful finale.
