Race fans, do you feel the need for speed? It’s almost time for America’s fastest athletes to dash out of the gates to compete in some of the most exciting live racing you’ll see. Friday, September 18 is opening night of the Fall Meeting of Champions Season at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. First race post time 6:35 p.m.

Good news for all you horseplayers, for the first time ever Lone Star Park has lowered the minimum to .50¢ on all Trifecta wagers!

Headlining the nine-race program opening night is the 18th running of the $20,000-Guaranteed Grand Prairie Stakes for Accredited Texas-Bred three-year-olds & upward, going 350 yards. Scheduled as the eighth on the nine race card, approximate post time for the Grand Prairie Stakes is 9:37 p.m.

Morning line favoritism goes to Jess a Comment at 6-5. Owned by Michael S. Amburn of Houston, Texas, the six-year-old gelding by First Comment is a perfect three for three for the year. Even better, he has won four of his last five starts. Most recently he won the TQHA 250 Stakes at Retama Park July 24. He won the King William Handicap July 4 also at Retama, and won an allowance at Sam Houston April 25. Jess a Comment is trained by Mike Robbins and will be ridden by Luis Ramirez.

Dan W. Vick of Devine, Texas has entered Mr. Jo Eagle, a four-year-old gelding by One Famous Eagle. Trained by R. L. Rick Robinson, Mr Jo Eagle was third here last year in the Grade 3, Dash for Cash Derby. His record for the year is 5-2-1-1. Jockey Agustin Silva has the riding assignment.

The field from the rail out for the featured Grand Prairie Stakes, with jockey and morning line odds is as follows: Jess a Comment (Luis Ramirez, 6-5); Charvet (Alex Baldillez, Jr., 5-2); Zoomin Tac (Ricardo Aguirre, 20-1); Really Hi (Juan Francisco Garcia, Jr., 15-1); Hiclass Heat (Alfredo Triana, Jr., 10-1); Mr Jo Eagle (Agustin Silva, 3-1) and Kw Cowboy (Damian I. Martinez, 20-1).
