GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, October 2, 2015) – Live music and Fast horses are what it’s about at Lone Star Park This weekend. There’s fun for everyone and you won’t want to be left out of the action.

Friday, October 2 is the first show in the PURICA MUSIC CONCERT SERIES featuring Carlos y Jose performing after the last live race. Plus, Marin Reyna y Su Carril will perform between races in our Courtyard of Champions. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. First of nine live races is at 6:35 p.m. Concert is free with $5.00 paid admission until 8:00 p.m. or $12.00 thereafter. Must be at least 18 years of age or accompanied by an adult at all times.

Also at Lone Star Park on Friday, October 2 we will add to our live wagering format a new Rolling Daily Double wager. Now fans can play Daily Double wagers throughout the live racing cards instead of just twice per card previously.  

Saturday, October 3 has some of the best stakes action of the meeting. Featuring two Challenge races, the $30,000 Merial Distaff Challenge for fillies & mares, three & up at 400 yards and the $30,000 Zoetis Distance Challenge for three-year-olds & up at 870 yards. Both lead into the Bank of America Challenge Championships here on November 6 and 7. Saturday’s headliner is the Grade 1 $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap for three-year-olds and up at 440 yards. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Post time for the first of nine live races is 6:35 p.m.

The American Quarter Horse Association’s Wrangler Racing Ace Martha Claussen will be on hand Saturday to share expert handicapping tips and advice, plus she will be teaming up with Lone Star Park’s own handicapping expert, Rick Lee for a pre-race handicapping seminar on the first level of the Grandstand and it’s free to all interested fans.

Live racing continues Sunday, October 4 with a nine race program. Sunday discounts including free admission for seniors and military personnel or anyone can bring a Pepsi can and get in free. There will be live music in the Courtyard of Champions by The Project and Bounce Houses for kids to enjoy from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Gates open at 12:00 noon First race post time is 1:35 p.m.


Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The 2015 Fall Meeting of Champions for American Quarter Horses and mixed breeds opens Friday, September 18 and concludes on Saturday, November 14. Live racing will be held three days a week, Friday & Saturday at 6:35 p.m.  and Sundays at 1:35 p.m. Live racing will be held on select Thursdays at 6:35 p.m. (October 15, 22 and 29; November 5). The Bank of America Challenge Championships will be held on Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7.
