GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, October 10, 2015) – Bodacious Eagle made amends for his second place finish in his trial race two weeks ago by winning when it counted most. The gelding by One Famous Eagle got the victory in the Grade 2, Dash for Cash Derby Saturday at Lone Star Park.

Under the guidance of winning jockey Ricky Ramirez, Bodacious Eagle finished 1 ¼ lengths ahead of the rest, clocking the 440 yards in 21.386 seconds over a fast track. Speed index was 96.

“Today he broke awesome,” said Ricky Ramirez. “He and the six horse [Candy Cartels Cat] had a little match race for about a hundred yards, and then he just pulled away and went to the front.”

It was a special win for owner Johnny Trotter of Hereford, Texas. He bought the horse as an embryo and raised him, making the win a bit sweeter than usual.

This was the first graded stakes win for Bodacious Eagle. With the winner’s share of the purse his career earnings are now $437,208. The win was his fifth of 12 career starts.

Mutuels returned $8.00, $3.40 and $2.60. Place went to Tf Cajun Cartel and returned $5.20 and $3.60. Tempting Destiny was third returning $2.80 for the show. Candy Cartels Cat, Paint Me Perry, Ipolito, Volcoms Thunder, Redemption Star and Jess Dance completed the order. Fastest qualifier Marys Coronitas was scratched from the race.
