GRADE 1 ALL AMERICAN DERBY WINNER TO COMPETE FRIDAY IN TEXAS CLASSIC DERBY TRIALS

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Thursday, October 22, 2015) – Five of the nine races carded Friday, Races 4 through 8, are 440 yard trials to determine the field for the Grade 1, $400,000-Estimated Texas Classic Derby which will be held on Saturday, November 14. These trials have attracted 45 three-year-olds, each vying for one of the 10 coveted spots in the Derby final.

Some stellar competitors have drawn in this year making for some super exciting racing you won’t want to miss! Gates open at 5:30 p.m. First race post time 6:35 p.m. General Admission is just $5 and General Parking is free.

Contenders include 2015 All American Derby winner, Apollitical Blood. Owned by Rancho el Cabresto Inc. of Colton CA, this three-year-old by Apollitical Jess out of the Fishers Dash mare Brazilian Dasher has amassed a bankroll of over $1.5 million dollars, winning five of his 12 career starts to date. He is trained by Juan Aleman and will be ridden by Eduardo Nicasio.

Grade 1 winner Jm Miracle, owned by J & M Racing & Farm is another in the millionaire club. A gelding by Volcom out of Lethal Delight by Dean Miracle won the 2014 All American Futurity. Trained by Benjamin Garza, he has won five of nine career starts earning over $1.4 million for the efforts.

Johnny Trotter’s Bodacious Eagle, who just won the Grade 2 Dash for Cash Derby here on October 10, has signed up. If he were to qualify and win the Texas Classic Derby, he would join the likes of World Champions Oak Tree Special and Dashing Perfection. They hold the distinction of being the only two horses to win both the Dash for Cash and Texas Classic Derbies.

Torts On Fire, a grade 1 winner of the 2014 Texas Classic Futurity will be competing. Owned by Terry & Irene Stennett and trained by Trey Wood, the Walk Thru Fire gelding out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Queen of Torts will have the services of leading jockey Ricky Ramirez in his trial.  

On The Track: Gates open early at 4:00 p.m. and an early first race post time is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. Saturday, October 24 to accommodate the 16 trials races carded to determine field for the Grade 1 Texas Classic Futurity which will be held Saturday, November 14.

Additional Notes:  Beginning Thursday, October 29 and for the remainder of the current season, track announcer Jim Byers will return to Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie to call all the action while subbing for John Lies, the voice of the track since 2005. Lies is scheduled to return to Del Mar in California to resume his role as TVG simulcast host for their upcoming fall meet. A seasoned veteran, Byers called the second night of this season as well as the final four days of the Thoroughbred meet in July. Live racing will continue through Saturday, November 14 this meet, including the Bank of America Challenge Championships and the Texas Classic Futurity on closing night.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The 2015 Fall Meeting of Champions for American Quarter Horses and mixed breeds opens Friday, September 18 and concludes on Saturday, November 14.
