NYQUIST SEEKS TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED BY WINNING SATURDAYS 141ST PREAKNESS STAKES

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Thursday, May 19, 2016) – We waited 37 years for a hero horse to win the Triple Crown and what a treasure American Pharoah turned out to be last year! Can we expect to see another so soon? Come out Saturday to Lone Star Park for Preakness Stakes Day Saturday, May 21, and watch undefeated Kentucky Derby winner, Nyquist in his pursuit to add the middle jewel and have a shot at the Triple Crown.   

You can watch, wager and win on the 141st running of the Preakness Stakes plus, 13 other simulcasts from Pimlico. Lone Star Park has 11 live races carded Saturday as well, so there will be plenty of horse racing action you won’t want to miss.

Bar & Book will open at 9:00 a.m. First race post time at Pimlico, 9:30 a.m. Grandstand gates open at 12:00 noon. First live race at Lone Star Park is 2:05 p.m. The 141st running of the Preakness Stakes live via simulcast will be at approximately 5:45 p.m. CDT.
 

BLACK-EYED SUSAN – A PREAKNESS TRADITION 

Of course you will want to try a “Black-Eyed Susan” while cheering for Nyquist or your favorite horse to the wire. The traditional drink of the Preakness Stakes will be available Saturday at all drink stations in the Grandstand. Customers can also enjoy live music featuring Signed Sealed Delivered on our Courtyard of Champions stage from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

ADVANCE WAGERING FRIDAY 

For those who cannot be here Saturday for all of the exciting action, advance wagering will be available on the Preakness Stakes, and all of Saturdays Pimlico race card. Just visit any mutuel window here on Friday, May 20 to place your advance wagers.

THE PREAKNESS  

Undefeated going in to the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, Nyquist claims that stat again going in to the Preakness. He will take on 10 opponents, of which only two ran in the Kentucky Derby May 7, Exaggerator (2nd) and Lani (9th). Nyquist has been installed as the 3-5 morning line favorite.

The Grade I Preakness Stakes is for three-year-olds going one and three-sixteenths miles. There is a field of 11 competing in this 141st edition of the Grade 1 classic. The total purse for the race is $1.5 Million with $900k going to the winner. The trophy awarded to the winning owner is a $30,000 sterling silver Woodlawn Vase.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP.
