GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, June 17, 2016) – Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie will host the fifth running of the $50,000 Guaranteed Lane’s End Stallion Scholarship Stakes Saturday. The Lane’s End is for Accredited Texas-bred fillies & mares, three-years-old and upward going seven and one half furlongs on the turf. It is the scheduled seventh race on the eight race card. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. First race post time is 7:05 p.m. Post time for the Lane’s End is approximately 9:53 p.m. (CDT).

The Texas Thoroughbred Association established the Texas Thoroughbred Educational Fund (TTEF) in 2005 and has awarded almost $300,000 in scholarships to date. The TTEF provides qualified TTA members and their children with monetary assistance to help meet annual college education costs. The TTEF scholarship fund received a terrific boost when Will Farish, a Houston native, former ambassador to the Court of St. James, and owner of Lane’s End Farm in Versailles, KY, and Lane’s End Texas near Hempstead, committed to be a major donor. All financial support is an investment in the present and future education of TTEF recipients.

In recognition of this generous contribution, Lone Star Park is proud to host the fifth annual Lane’s End Stallion Scholarship Stakes.

Congratulations to the current recipients. They are Michael Davidson, Brittnee Zamora, Bryson Smith, Andrea Hartis, Todd Hartis, Wyatt Sheffield, and Tori Spakes.

For more information on the TTEF, please visit the Texas Thoroughbred Association website at www.texasthoroughbred.com or call 512-458-6133.

A field of nine fillies and mares will go postward, each vying for the winners share of the $50k purse. William B. Andersons Seneca Destiny is the morning line favorite. A five-year-old mare by Seneca Jones out of the Dixieland Band mare Dixie’s Destiny, she has won 12 of 33 career starts. Her record this year is 5-3-0-2, the most notable of those recent starts was a win in the San Jacinto at Sam Houston last January. She ran back and placed in the Houston Distaff in February, but was disqualified to third. Add to that a pair of wins in starter optional claiming races at Fair Grounds. Seneca Destiny is trained by Brad H. Cox and will be ridden by Bryan McNeil.

Back seeking a repeat win in the Lane’s End is last year’s winner, Expect Royalty. Owned by Loyana Pollok and trained by Leroy Pollok, this six-year-old Texas-bred daughter of Valid Expectations is a multiple stakes winner and has 11 wins from 21 lifetime starts. Her record at Lone Star Park is 8-4-3-0. In her most recent she won an allowance over the Lone Star grass course April 23. She retains her regular jock Iram Diego.

The field for the fifth running of the Lane’s End Stallion Scholarship Stakes with post position, jockey and odds is:

1-My Silver Lullaby (Jareth Loveberry, 20-1); 2-Texas Belle (Ivan Arellano, 15-1); 3-Expect Royalty (Iram Diego, 2-1); Seven Violets (Ernesto Valdez-Jimenez, 20-1); 5-Infectious (David Cabrera, 8-1); 6-Seneca Destiny (Bryan McNeil, 9-5); 7-Slew’s Song (Lindey Wade, 12-1); 8-Whiskey Eyes, Luis Quinonez, 12-1) and 9-More Than Most (C. J. McMahon, 4-1).

Post time for the featured Lane’s End is 9:53 p.m.
