GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Sunday, July 3, 2016) – Lone Star Park jockey C. J. McMahon, leading rider of the 2015 Spring Thoroughbred Season is looking at his second consecutive riding title at the Grand Prairie track. He rode five winners on the card tonight, upping his season total to 83 wins from 245 starts through Sunday. His mounts for the season have earned over $1.1 million. And with eight live racing days remaining this meet, it’s likely he will eclipse his 2015 season total of 95 victories.

A crowd of 12,544 attended Sunday’s races followed by the Lone Stars & Stripes Celebration and Fireworks Display. Before the Fireworks began, 10 finalists were selected by random drawing for a chance to win the 2016 Ford Mustang Giveaway. Ed Santos of Fort Worth, TX was the lucky winner when he selected the key remote that unlocked the door to his brand new Mustang.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The track offers a 50-day 2016 Spring Thoroughbred Season, which opens Thursday, April 7 and concludes on Sunday, July 17.  Live racing will be held three days a week, Friday & Saturday at 7:05 p.m. (except Triple Crown Days May 7, May 21 & June 11 which have a 2:05 p.m. start) and Sundays at 2:05 p.m. Live racing will be held on select Thursdays at 7:05 p.m. (April 7 & 21; May 19; June 16; July 14). The racing program on Memorial Day, May 30, will start at 2:05 p.m. A special twilight program will be held at 5 p.m. both on Sunday, July 3 and Monday, July 4 (Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration). Lone Star Park is also home to the multi-million dollar simulcast racebook, sports bar and event venue, Bar & Book. The 36,000 square foot venue is open to the public 363 days a year.
