GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, July 9, 2016) – Keene Thoroughbreds LLC’s Bling On the Music proved much the best in winning the 24th running of the Texas Thoroughbred Futurity for fillies at Lone Star Park Saturday. The two-year-old daughter of Too Much Bling set the pace under persistent pressure from Pure Grey which continued into and through the turn. Leveling into the stretch, she was asked while easily shaking off Pure Grey, and drew off to win the five furlong futurity by 8 ½ lengths in :58.11 seconds. Fractional times were :22.69 and :46.13.

The victory was the fourth on the card for jockey Luis Quinonez. “She was relaxed around the turn and when I asked her to go, she really moved forward,” Quinonez said. “She’s so smooth.”

Winning trainer, J. R. Caldwell said “She’s done everything we’ve asked her to do. She galloped out strong. She’s been good.”

Bling On the Music went off as the betting favorite and returned $4.20, $2.60 and $2.20. Douglas Scharbauer’s Gold Shock earned the place while no match for the winner returning $$4.20 and $3.00. Colonial Kendra, while tired, held on for show and paid $4.60. Pure Grey weakened to a fourth place finish. More Than Gone, Shez for You and Pretty Lil Flyer completed the order of finish. I’ve Got Rhythm was scratched.

This was the second career victory from as many attempts and first stakes victory for Bling On the Music. Her perfect 2-2 record has earned her $68,882.
