PROMISE ME SILVER SHINES ON STARS OF TEXAS NIGHT

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, July 9, 2016) – Myrna & Robert Luttrell’s four-year-old Grade 3 winning filly Promise Me Silver notched her 10th career victory and eighth career stakes victory in the 19th edition of the Valor Farm Stakes for Texas-bred fillies & mares Saturday.

Conditioned by trainer Bret Calhoun, the four-year-old daughter of Silver City cruised to an easy lead, dictated the terms and won easily under a hand ride completing the six furlong contest in 1:10.28. Fractions posted were 23.01 and 46.07, the track was listed fast.

“I felt they were going to have a little more early speed, but when she left the gate, she left so hard,” said jockey C. J. McMahon. “She put me there and I didn’t want to take nothing away from her.”

The Bret Calhoun trainee, with the addition of tonight’s share of the purse has earned a total of $486,015 from her 13 career starts.

Bob Luttrell said “It’s a real pleasure after an eight and a half month layoff. It’s great to have her back.” 

Mutuels on Promise Me Silver returned $2.40. $2.10 and $2.10, seven lengths behind the winner for place was Valid Bride who returned $2.60 and $2.10. It was another ¾ length to Everything Bling for the show of $2.60. Also ran were Too Much Prada, Bling’s Ace and Seven Violets in that order. Prada’s Bling was a late scratch.
