For Immediate Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, October 1, 2016) – Right out of the gate in the AQHA Distance Challenge Saturday, Jessa Little Rusty stumbled and ducked in unseating jockey J. R. Valenzuela. From then on it was a bit dicey with the rider-less horse continuing on with the rest. Fortunately, he ran up the rail never interfering with anyone. Valenzuela was transported to first aid and released, but did not ride the rest of the night.

That aside, it was Ec Cartel in last place through the turn where he then began passing horses at the top of the stretch.  One by one he put them away, reaching the leader just past the sixteenth pole. The final opponent was favorite, Fire On The Fly who had been racing on the lead throughout, but was no match late for the fast closing Ec Cartel posting a 1 1/2 length victory  over Fire On the Fly, who  had to settle for second place. The Field Cricket was another 3/4 length in third. Final time for the 870 yard Distance Challenge was 45.816 over a fast track. Speed index earned for the effort was 95.
