2017 Thoroughbred Season Opens Thursday, April 20  

 GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, March 3, 2017) – That’s right, it’s been 20 years since the 1997 inaugural season and we have plans to celebrate in a big way! Lone Star Park’s 2017 Thoroughbred Season runs Thursday, April 20 through Sunday, July 30, and will feature exciting racing and entertainment infused with numerous giveaways designed to enhance horseracing fans experiences!  

 The 20th anniversary celebration includes:   

  Lone Star Park 20th Anniversary Giveaways:   

  • Magnetic Calendar to the first 5,000 fans on Opening Day (April 20)  
  • T-Shirt to the first 3,000 fans on May 5; May 26 and July 14 
  • Premium ball cap to the first 2,500 fans on May 12; June 2 and June 23 
  • Koozie to the first 1.500 fans on May 12; June 9 and June 16 

 Party at the Park – Every Friday*:   

 Enjoy exciting racing and live music with $2 drink specials from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Party at the Park in the Courtyard of Champions every Friday night during the meet.*
 *Excludes Lone Star Music Series concert events on June 16, July 7 and July 21.

Extreme Racing – Saturday, April 29: 

 Lone Star Park hosts Extreme Racing on Saturday, April 29, featuring camel, ostrich and zebra races.  These out-of-the-ordinary exotic animal races will be run on the main track between regularly scheduled Thoroughbred races.  The evening also includes a Family Fun Park on the lawn, complete with bounce houses and a petting zoo. 

 Money Machine Mania – Friday Nights in May:  

 Join us each Friday in May for a chance to win up to $2,500 in our Lone Star Park money machine!  Fans, 18 years of age or older can register to win in the Courtyard of Champions. One (1) lucky winner will be selected after each race for their chance at 30 seconds in the money machine. 

 Kentucky Derby Day – Saturday, May 6:  

 Watch, wager and win on the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby, simulcast live from Churchill Downs.  In addition to the simulcast event, Lone Star Park will host the ‘Kentucky Derby Best Hat’ contest with celebrity judges for a chance to win multiple prizes! One (1) winner in each of our categories, “Most Stylish” and “Most Creative”, will receive $500 with an additional three (3) winners receiving “A Day at the Races” package for Honorable Mention. This family fun event will also include a Family Fun Park on the lawn with bounce houses, pony rides and a petting zoo.   

 Texas Mile – Sunday, May 7:  

 Join us on Sunday, May 7th for the running of the Grade 3, $200,000 Texas Mile. This premiere stakes race caps off what will be a Texas-sized Kentucky Derby weekend! 

 Dollar Night – Saturday, May 13 & Saturday, July 15:  

Fans are invited to enjoy $1 general admission, hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks and $2 beer while watching a night of exciting Thoroughbred racing.

 Mother’s Day – Sunday, May 14:  

 Treat your mother to a great day of Thoroughbred racing and a chance to win various prizes with our Mother’s Day Appreciation giveaways.   

 Preakness Stakes Day – Saturday, May 20:  

 Catch all of the action in the 142nd Preakness Stakes, simulcast live from Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore, Maryland. Find out if this year’s Kentucky Derby Winner will continue the Triple Crown bid. 

 Hall of Fame Day / Lone Star Park Handicap – Sunday, May 28:  

 Sunday, May 28 is Hall of Fame Day, featuring the Grade 3, $200,000 Lone Star Park Handicap. In celebration of our 20th Anniversary, we will induct three new members into our Hall of Fame. Join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of Steve Sexton, G.R. Carter, Jr. and Cliff Berry.  

 Memorial Day – Lone Star Bark / Jockeys & Java – Monday, May 29:  

 Our 3rd annual “Lone Star Bark” will be held on Memorial Day. Activities will include dog races with cash prizes, pet vendor booths, on-site adoptions with Prairie Paws Adoption Center and giveaways for every dog in attendance. Before the races, join us for Jockeys & Java, where you can enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast while you watch the horses during their morning training, listen to interviews with special guests and take an in-depth tour of the barn and stable area. 

 Belmont Stakes Day – Saturday, June 10:  

 You won’t want to miss your chance to watch, wager and win on the 149th running of the Belmont Stakes, simulcast live from Belmont Park! You could witness history if the Triple Crown is on the line. 

Lone Star Music Series – Josh Abbott Band – Friday, June 16:
  

 The 2017 Lone Star Music Series kicks off Friday, June 16 featuring the Josh Abbott Band live in concert after the final race.  Admission is $5 before 7:30 p.m.; $20 thereafter.  

 Father’s Day – Sunday, June 18:  

 Bring dad out for our Father’s Day giveaway and fun activities. 

 Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration – Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4:  

 Two spectacular nights of fireworks will be held at Lone Star Park on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 following the races.  In addition to live racing and fireworks, enjoy entertainment for the entire family with live music and our expanded Family Fun Park.  All members of the military will receive one (1) free general admission with a valid military I.D. 

 Lone Star Music Series – Randy Rogers Band – Friday, July 7:  

 The 2017 Lone Star Music Series continues Friday, July 7 featuring Randy Rogers Band live in concert after the final race. Admission is $5 before 7:30 p.m.; $20 thereafter.  

 Lone Star Music Series – Pat Green – Friday, July 21:  

 The 2017 Lone Star Music Series concludes on Friday, July 21 featuring Pat Green live in concert after the final race. Admission is $5 before 7:30 p.m.; $20 thereafter.   

 Fan Appreciation Night – Saturday, July 29:  

 Lone Star Park salutes its loyal fans on Saturday, July 29, with special giveaways between select races.

  •  ·Senior Citizens’ Discount – Every senior citizen, 62 years of age or older, will receive one (1) free general admission with a valid I.D.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The track offers a 50-day 2017 Thoroughbred Season, which opens Thursday, April 20 and concludes on Sunday, July 30.  Live racing will be held three days a week, Friday at 6:35 p.m., Saturday at 5:00 p.m. (except Triple Crown Days May 6, May 20 & June 10 which have a 1:35 p.m. start) and Sundays at 2:35 p.m. Live racing will be held on select Thursdays at 6:35 p.m. (April 20, June 15 & July 27).
