GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, April 28, 2017) – Join us for the most fun day in the Metroplex this Monday, May 29.  Be sure to bring your bestie pooch because it’s Lone Star Bark Dog Day at the Park. Gates open at 1:30 p.m. First Race is at 2:35 p.m.

MEMORIAL DAY FESTIVITIES INCLUDE: 

JOCKEYS & JAVA 

The fun begins early on Monday morning for Jockeys & Java. Fans can come enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast and watch the horses work out on the track during their morning training. Track Announcer Jim Byers will interview jockey Luis Quinonez followed with a short Q & A period. Afterwards fans can take a bus ride to the stable area for an in-depth tour and listen to a trainer talk about their operation. Gates for this special event open at 8:30 a.m. Interviews will start at approximately 9:30 a.m. Covered seating is available. Bus tours to the stable area will begin shortly after the track closes for morning training at 11:00 a.m. Fans joining us for this event please enter through the Courtyard of Champion gates located on the West side of the Grandstand.*

*No dogs are allowed on the busses or in the stable area. 

OPENING CEREMONIES 

Opening Ceremonies lead by the US Navy Honor Guard, stationed at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas. The ceremonies will begin at approximately 2:10 p.m. 

LIVE RACING ACTION: 

Nine live Thoroughbred races are scheduled with the first race kicking off at 2:35 p.m.

LONE STAR BARK DOG DAY AT THE PARK    

This is what your dog has been wagging about for weeks, so bring yours out to enjoy the festivities, share $1 hot dogs, visit on-site pet vendors and watch the dog races! All dogs attending will receive a free Lone Star Bark handkerchief to wear and a hydrant waste bag dispenser.

The Deep Ellum Brewing Company is sponsoring the event and will be on hand selling beer for $5. They can be purchased at the indoor and outdoor concessions on the first level of the Grandstand. For those dining in Silks the $5 beer will be served in a special commemorative keepsake 12 oz pint glass. Lone Star Park is donating 10% of all Deep Ellum Brewery beer sales on Monday to be split between Prairie Paws and Paws in the City.

Dog vendors on-site are: Prairie Paws Animal Shelter Inc. (pet adoptions); The Barkery (dog treats); Dog Mom (dog clothing); Oily Paws (essential oils) and Paws in the City (foster homes for dogs).

There are eight dog races scheduled. They will break from the Lone Star Bark dog gate on the main track between live Thoroughbred races 1-9.

FREE ADMISSION FOR MILITARY PERSONEL 

All military personnel will receive (1) FREE General Admission at our Admission Gates. Just present your present your Military ID at the designated areas at our entrances to receive your coupon. 

STAR PLAYER REWARDS
 

Star Player Rewards members will receive a Free $5 Wager to use. The voucher will be available at the kiosk and will print after you swipe your Star Player Rewards card, select the reward from the menu and enter your PIN number.*

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The track offers a 50-day 2017 Thoroughbred Season, which opens Thursday, April 20 and concludes on Sunday, July 30.  Live racing will be held three days a week, Friday at 6:35 p.m., Saturday at 5:00 p.m. (except Triple Crown Days May 6, May 20 & June 10 which have a 1:35 p.m. start) and Sundays at 2:35 p.m. Live racing will be held on select Thursdays at 6:35 p.m. (April 20, June 15 & July 27). The racing program on Memorial Day, May 29, will start at 2:35 p.m. A special twilight program will be held at 5:00 p.m. both on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 (Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration).
