 GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, May 27, 2017) – Under the guidance of jockey Richard Eramia, post-time favorite Rumpole lead from gate to wire to win the Texas Stallion Stakes, Stymie Division for colts & geldings for owner Fletcher Properties Inc. This was the first Texas Stallion Stakes win for winning trainer Robert Young. Final time for the mile stakes was 1:39.62. The track was listed as fast.

The margin of victory was one and a half lengths over second place Shaded. It was another two and a half lengths to Fast Talkin Man in third. Mosta Flyin; Too Much Gone; Imma Wild Bling; Checker Czech and Medieval Medicine completed the order.

The 3-yr-old gelded son of Too Much Bling out of the Dehere’s Dream by Dehere returned $4.20, $3.00 and $2.20. Shaded paid $4.20 and $2.60 for place, and mutuels on Fast Talkin Man returned $2.80.

With the winner’s share of the purse, Rumpole increased his earnings to $121,470. This was his fourth win from six starts.

Around the Track 

Iram Diego and Steve Asmussen dominate the standings through the 18th day of the season. Diego has 39 wins over Sasha Risenhoover who is holding second with 19 wins over Richard Eramia’s 18 wins. Trainer Steve Asmussen has 36 wins compared to Broberg’s 24 wins. Asmussen also dominates the owner standings with a total of 16 victories over Danny Keene’s 9.
