GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, June 24, 2017) – Five inches of rain fell over Lone Star Park in the early morning hours prompting racing officials to transfer the scheduled turf races to the main track. That included the featured $50,000 Lane’s End Danny Shifflett Scholarship Stakes. Originally scheduled at seven and a half furlongs on turf, the Lane’s End went at one mile on the main track, which was labeled muddy (sealed).

Favorite Zippit E took the lead out of the gates with My Master Plan pressing her until the three-quarter pole taking over at the top of the stretch, drawing clear under strong urging to get the win in a final time of 1:39.31. Zippit E was able to hold on for the place and Gentle Secret got up for show. Fractions for the one mile contest were 24.14, 47.63 and 1:12.69.
