JOCKEY IRAM VARGAS DIEGO HITS MILESTONE TONIGHT IN THE NIGHTCAP AT LONE STAR PARK– CAREER VICTORY NUMBER 1,000

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, July 7, 2017) – Jockey Iram Vargas Diego reached his 1,000th North American career win aboard Mr. Lexis in the ninth and final race of the night.

Diego rode Mr Lexis, owned by Michael Annechino, to a one and three-quarter length victory in the ninth, a claiming race at one and one sixteenth miles on turf. He also won the opener on the card aboard Blingin’ Rose.

Diego, from Guerrero, Mexico has been riding since 2002. He is currently the leading rider at Lone Star Park scoring a total of 54 wins since the meet began on
April 20.      

 

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The track offers a 50-day 2017 Thoroughbred Season, which concludes on Sunday, July 30.  Live racing will be held three days a week, Friday at 6:35 p.m., Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:35 p.m. Live racing will be held on select Thursdays at 6:35 p.m. (June 15 & July 27). A special twilight program will be held at 5:00 p.m. both on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 (Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration).
