GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Sunday, July 9, 2017) – Jockey Lindey Wade reaches a milestone today when he scored his 1,000th North American career victory in the seventh race aboard Karen & Richard Boyer’s Firepit Queen.

Born in New Orleans and raised in Haughton, Louisiana, Wade began his riding career in 2007 at Louisiana Downs. His first win at the Bossier City track came on May 17 of that year. Since that first He has ridden a total of 7,747 races since then. His career earnings total $18,627,750.

Wade won his first riding title at Sam Houston Race Park in 2011 when he and Quincy Hamilton ended the season in a tie for the most wins.

Wade then moved his tack to Lone Star Park for the 2011 season where he finished fifth in the standings that year. In 2012, he finished second behind Lone Star Park Hall of Fame jockey and all-time win leader, Cliff Berry. The following year (2013) he edged past Berry by seven wins to capture his first and only riding title here. Since then he has finished in the top five in the standings here from 2014-2016.

Wade’s Lone Star Park stats are 1,891 mounts, 314 wins and earnings totaling $4,826,118 to date. He is currently sitting in fourth place of the rider standings. The 2017 season ends on July 30.

With only 10 live racing days remaining in the season there was some shifting of positions in the rider standings today. Richard Eramia won three races on the card and has moved past Iram Diego for the top spot with 55 wins. Diego has 54. Sasha Risenhoover is currently in third place with 42 wins. Lindey Wade is fourth with 36 wins. Hall of Famer and all-time Lone Star Park leading trainer Steve Asmussen continues to dominate with 67 victories through today. Karl Broberg has won 46 races which puts him in second place. Bret Calhoun is third with 26 wins. Asmussen has also held a comfortable lead in the owner standings. He has 29 wins compared to Keene Thoroughbred’s 24 wins.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The track offers a 50-day 2017 Thoroughbred Season, which concludes on Sunday, July 30.  Live racing will be held three days a week, Friday at 6:35 p.m., Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:35 p.m. Live racing will be held on select Thursdays at 6:35 p.m. (June 15 & July 27). A special twilight program will be held at 5:00 p.m. both on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 (Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration).
