GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Monday, July 3, 2017) – Sasha Risenhoover, Lone Star Park’s leading female rider was unseated tonight when her mount, Degrees of Freedom ducked in and hit the temporary rail in the third race.

Risenhoover was transported by ambulance to Baylor Irving for further tests for a possible concussion. She was alert and talking in first aid before departing to the hospital.

Degrees of Freedom broke on top in the one mile turf race leading the field before being passed by a rival at the quarter-pole, and while under a drive in upper stretch, ducked in and hit the temporary rail passing the chute and unseating Risenhoover.

A four-year-old filly by Arch, Degrees of Freedom was not injured in the incident. She is owned by Imaginary Stables of Ft. Lauderdale and trained by Karl Broberg.


Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and GG LSP. The track offers a 50-day 2017 Thoroughbred Season, which concludes on Sunday, July 30.  Live racing will be held three days a week, Friday at 6:35 p.m., Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:35 p.m. Live racing will be held on select Thursdays at 6:35 p.m. (June 15 & July 27). A special twilight program will be held at 5:00 p.m. both on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 (Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration).
