“We purchased him in Ruidoso about two years ago and it was a loving thing when I saw this horse,” said owner Argelio Aguayo of Double A Ranch. “Something told me to go for it so I got him. This horse knows he’s going to go and win. You can’t see any other horse beating him. He’s a superior horse.”

Favorite and fastest qualifier, Eagle Cry exchanged bumps at the start, but never fired finishing fifth. A neck behind the winner was Ja Big Bad Gol, who dueled with Rock About It beating him out by a head for place. Finishing seventh was Carmel Diamond, but he was disqualified for interference and placed last. The final running order behind the top three was Gianni Que, Eagle Cry, Like a Denali, Mia Kine, Koolnfamous, Immortal Sabateur and Carmel Diamond.

Mutuels returned $7:00, $4.60 and $3.80 on the winner. Ja Big Bad Gol returned $18.20 and $10.00 for place tickets and Rock About It backers received $6.00 for show.

With the winner’s share of the purse, the colt by Pyc Paint Your Wagon upped his earnings to $325,868. This was his fourth win from 10 career starts.
