The Grade 3, $300,000 Steve Sexton Mile, formerly known as the Texas Mile, was renamed in 2017 to honor the memory of Steve Sexton, Lone Star Park’s former Vice-President & General Manager and to raise awareness for the Steven P. Sexton Foundation.
“The Sexton Family is honored to recognize our amazing dad, husband and best friend with Texas’ greatest horse race,” said Taylor Sexton. “The Steve Sexton Mile was an incredible event in 2017, and we are confident that the Lone Star Park team will build off of that performance.”
