MPSHINNING POSTS FASTEST 400-YARD TIME QUALIFYING TO THE GRADE 2, $405,585 DASH FOR CASH FUTURITY FINAL

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday September 22, 2018) – A total of 114 2-yr-olds competed in 12 400-yard trials Saturday at Lone Star Park with only the 10 fastest advancing to the final. The Grade 2, $405,585 Dash For Cash Futurity Final is scheduled to go right here on Saturday, October 6.

The fastest qualifier of the night was Larry J. Boudreaux’s Mpshinning clocking in at 19.545 seconds for the 400 yards in Race 2. The bay colt by Mr Pilito was bumped by the horse inside at the break, but he quickly recovered and was out in front in a few strides. The win by 2 lengths was impressive. Mpshinning is trained by Adrian Huitron and was ridden to victory by Luis Vivanco. The weather was showery and the track was listed as muddy for all 12 trials.

It was down to the next to last trial of the night before the final field was set. In the 11th race, Im Sporting Rock earned a berth posting the 9th fastest time of 19.783 seconds. Trainer Robert Meche and jockey Manuel Gutierrez each qualified three to the final and trainer Rolando Almanza qualified two.

All participants in the trials tonight that did not qualify for the final remain eligible for the Dash for Cash Juvenile Stakes on Saturday, October 6. Preference will be given to the horses based on their times in the trials.

Dash For Cash Derby Qualifiers

The Grade 3, $163,200 Dash For Cash Derby field was decided through torrential rains and several storm delays last night, Friday, September 21. It was not until after the final trial of the night (race 11) when five finishers were fast enough to make it in. The 10 fastest from the 50 entered into five trials were set and will advance to the final also to be held on October 6.
