Menu of Bets

Below are some terms that will help you feel knowledgeable when you take your first step towards the betting window.

Straight Wagers

Win – You collect if your horse finishes first.  The minimum wager is $2.
Place – You collect if your horse finishes first or second.  However, if your horse wins, you only collect the Place payout.  The minimum wager is $2.
Show – You collect if your horse finishes first, second, or third, but you only collect the Show payout.  The minimum wager is $2.
Across the Board – You are wagering on a horse to Win, Place and Show.  You receive one ticket for all three wagers.  If your horse wins, you receive Win, Place and Show payouts.  If your horse finishes second, you receive Place and Show payouts.  If your horse finishes third, you receive the Show payout.  Because you are actually placing three wagers, the minimum wager is $6.

Exotic Wagers

Exacta – To collect, you must pick the horses that finish first and second in exact order.  For example, if you play a 3-5 Exacta, the #3 horse must win and the #5 horse must Place (come in second) for you to collect.
Trifecta – Is similar to an Exacta, except you must pick the horses that finish first, second and third in exact order.  This is a challenging wager that often yields large dividends.

Superfecta – Is similar to the Exacta and Trifecta, except you must pick the horses that finish first, second, third and fourth in exact order.  This is also a challenging wager that often yields dividends larger than the trifecta.

Super Hi-5 Jackpot
Low 12% Takeout!

  • Wager Cost = $.20
  • Jackpot awarded only when there is one unique winning combination.
  • When no unique winning combination, 75% of the current day’s pool will be paid out among multiple winners and 25% will carryover.
  • If no winners, then 100% of the pool will carryover.
  • This wager occurs twice daily with the same Jackpot carrying over into the next…
    • The first race will carryover into the last race, which will carryover into the next day’s first race and so on.

Box -If you have two or more horses that you think will finish in the top spots, but you’re not sure of the order, you can Box them.  You may Box an Exacta, Trifecta, Superfecta or Super Hi-Five wager.  This guarantees that your wager is a winner when your selections finish in the top spots, regardless of the order.

Multi-Race Wagers

Daily Double – To collect, you must select the winner of two consecutive races.  For example, you must select the winner of the first race and the second race.
Pick 3 – To collect, you must pick the winners of 3 consecutive races.

Pick 4 – To collect, you must pick the winners of 4 consecutive races.
Pick 5 – To collect, you must pick the winners of 5 consecutive races.
Low 12% Takeout!

  • Pick the winners of the last five races.
  • Wager Cost = $.50
  • 75% of the current day’s pool will be paid out among winners with 5 out of 5 correct. If there are no 5 out of 5 winners then 75% will carryover.
  • A 25% consolation will be paid out daily among those with 4 out of 5 or the ‘most’ out of 5 correct.

Lone Star 6 Shooter (Pick 6) -To collect, you must pick the winners of 6 consecutive races.  The 20-cent 6 Shooter will be awarded to one unique wager.  On days where there are multiple winners, 50 percent of the pool will be shared equally, while 50 percent goes back into the jackpot carryover.

And of course you must make your selections before the first race of your Daily Double, Pick 3, Pick 4 or 6 Shooter wager.
