LONE STAR PARK CANCELS RACES DUE TO SEVERE HEAT
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, July 20, 2018) – Due to the severe heat, with the interest of safety being paramount for the horses and horsemen, Lone Star Park has no choice but to cancel this weekend.
The decision was unanimous between the Texas Racing Commission Veterinarian, the State Stewards and Lone Star Park Officials.
Mandatory payouts of the Fortune Six and Super High Five will carry until the next performance of live racing here at the track. Live racing for the Quarter Horse Season opens Friday, September 19.
Fans can continue playing Saratoga, Del Mar and many other racetracks around the country at tracks at the Bar & Book. The Bar & Book is open daily at 10:30 am until last race post time.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and Global Gaming LSP. The track offers a 44-day 2018 Thoroughbred Season, which opens Thursday, April 19 and concludes on Sunday, July 22. Live racing will be held three days a week, Friday at 6:35 p.m., Saturday at 2:35 p.m. (except Triple Crown Days May 5, May 19 & June 9 which have a 1:35 p.m. start) and Sundays at 2:35 p.m. Live racing will be held on select Thursdays at 6:35 p.m. (April 19, May 24, June 21 & July 19). A special twilight program will be held at 5:00 p.m. both on Tuesday, July 3 and Wednesday, July 4 (Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration). Lone Star Park is also home to the multi-million dollar simulcast racebook, sports bar and event venue, Bar & Book. The 36,000 square foot venue is open to the public 363 days a year.
