SELECTED GRAND PRAIRIE CHARITIES TO BE AWARDED FUNDS AT LONE STAR PARK CHARITABLE FOUNDATION CEREMONY

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, February 23, 2018) – The Lone Star Park Charitable Foundation for Grand Prairie – a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization will host its annual grant ceremony at Lone Star Park on Tuesday, March 20. Being awarded are 20 local Grand Prairie charity and non-profit organizations.

Charities chosen to share in the distribution are – Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dallas, Grand Prairie Club; Brighter Tomorrows; Children First Counseling Center; Christian Women’s Job Corps; Crime Stoppers, Inc.; Crisis Response Ministry; DeLoach Kidz; Food & Clothing Co-Op, Grand Prairie; Association of Grand Prairie Artists; GPFD Hearts & Hoses; Lifeline Shelters for Families, Inc.; NCAAP; Grand Prairie Police Explorers Post; Pregnancy Resource Center of Grand Prairie; Santa Cop, Inc.; Grand Prairie Pride, Special Olympics; Grand Prairie United Charities; GPPD Youth Boxing Program; Vietnam Veterans of America, Grand Prairie Chapter and YMCA of Grand Prairie.

“It is truly an honor to contribute to these worthwhile Grand Prairie organizations and their hard-working volunteers,” said Lone Star Park President & General Manager Scott Wells, who sits on the Foundation’s Board of Directors. “As of last year, we’ve been able to give more than $1 million back to the community through various fundraising efforts, and we look forward to continuing our efforts beginning with our next major fundraising event in May.”

The Lone Star Park Charitable Foundation celebrates its 16th anniversary this year, and will be hosting its annual fundraising event “A Taste of the Derby Party” on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Lone Star Park.

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, a Class I racetrack operated by Texas Partners LSP and Global Gaming LSP. The track offers a 44-day 2018 Thoroughbred Season, which opens Thursday, April 19 and concludes on Sunday, July 22.  Live racing will be held three days a week, Friday at 6:35 p.m., Saturday at 2:35 p.m. (except Triple Crown Days May 5, May 19 & June 9 which have a 1:35 p.m. start) and Sundays at 2:35 p.m. Live racing will be held on select Thursdays at 6:35 p.m. (April 19, May 24, June 21 & July 19). Lone Star Park is also home to the multi-million dollar simulcast racebook, sports bar and event venue, Bar & Book. The 36,000 square foot venue is open to the public 363 days a year.
