JESS ADALIDA ROMPS IN THE AQHA DISTAFF CHALLENGE

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, October 5, 2018) – The field was loaded and ready for the start in the AQHA Distaff Challenge when Alinas War Princess flipped and had to be backed out, examined and re-loaded in the gate. After what seemed like forever the favorite Jess Adalida, who had been standing completely focused on the task at hand, broke like a rocket ship from the inside post. There was never a doubt she was winning this race, no way could they catch her, not tonight.

Piloted by jockey Manuel Gutierrez, Jess Adalida ($4.00) crossed the finish line officially three lengths in front of the rest of the field. The 3-yr-old filly by Jess Louisiana Blue trained by Josue Ponce completed the 400-yard distance in 19.663 over a fast racetrack and earning a berth in the Grade 1, $100,000 Distaff Challenge Championship. The distaff which is part of the 2018 Bank of America Challenge Championships will be held at Los Alamitos Race Course in California on November 17. She will race for owner Ruben Garcia Montemayor.

It was a perfect exacta for trainer Josue Ponce, the trainer of second place finisher Mystical Jess, who also got an automatic berth into the Distaff Challenge Championship.

Third place went to Mary Paintyourwagon followed by Apollitical Seven, Inundated, Ima Dashin Follie, Shiner Blond, Watergirl B, Alinas War Princess and Miura completed the order of finish.

PAINT ME A SINNER ½ LENGTH WINNER OVER FAVORITE MPSHINNING IN GRADE 2 DASH FOR CASH FUTURITY

Trainer Rolando Almanza Wins Futurity, Derby and Juvenile

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, October 6, 2018) – It was a perfect three-for-three for trainer Rolando Almanza tonight. He became the first trainer in history to saddle the winner in each of the Dash For Cash Stakes, scoring in the Grade 2, $405,585 Futurity with Paint Me a Sinner, the Grade 3, $163,400 Derby with Eos a Political Winand the $45,065 Juvenile Stakes with Zooming Patriot.

Claudia Avila’s bay filly Paint Me a Sinner ($27.00) by Pyc Paint Your Wagon was perfect out of the gate in the Grade 2, $405,585 Dash For Cash Futurity and lead the entire race. Some Tempting Dash was close in second, but couldn’t keep up ultimately finishing fourth. Favorite Mpshinning didn’t break like he did in the trials, but got up for second on the inside. Third place went to Mr Corona Crystal. The remaining order was Parti Wagon, One Famous Stone, Fm Im a Zatanaz Too, Acoronas Toast and Im Sporting Rock. Washita Jack was scratched from the race.

“We knew she’d break out front, but weren’t sure she could hold them off,” said winning trainer Rolando Almanza. “She’s such a little filly, but she’s got a big heart. She doesn’t know how big she is.”

Final time scored by Paint Me a Sinner for the 400-yard futurity was 19.624 which earned a speed index of 99. Jockey Ricardo Garza-Cruz was aboard for the victory. It was her first graded stakes win.

“I had the fastest qualifier last year in the futurity, but couldn’t run in the final because the horse couldn’t come back. I’ve been wanting to win this race for a while and to win all three, the juvenile, derby and futurity is a dream come true,” added Almanza.

In the Grade 3, $163,400 Dash For Cash Derby, Cartel Cupid was fractious in the two hole causing a delay in the start, then broke in bumping the winner. It didn’t even faze
Eos a Political Win ($12.20). He broke perfect from the rail, a half-length better than the field, and held that distance in front to the finish. The bay colt by Apollitical Jess was a half- length in front at the finish completing the 440 yards in 21.397. It was worth a speed index of 101.

Owned by Elite Oilfield Services and ridden by Jose Amador Alvarez, graded stakes placed Eos a Political Win earned his first graded stakes victory in tonight’s Derby. His most recent win before trials for this was in the Retama Park Derby in July.

Second place went to Stone Cold Leader. Lions Express finished third, but was disqualified and placed seventh for drifting out. Cartel Cupid was moved up to third followed by T Velocity, Sr Shambles, Krash Course, Ivory Noche, Jcm Dashin Fast and finally Ebrima completed the order of finish.

It was a double tonight for owner Claudia Avila winning the Dash For Cash Futurity and the $45,065 Dash For Cash Juvenile Stakes. Victorious in the juvenile was Zoomin Patriot ($6.00). The black gelding by Jet Black Patriot, was anxious in the gate and almost stumbled at the break, but got right down to business under the guidance of jockey Ricky Ramirez. He was favored and got up to win by a nose on the outside. Final time for the 400-yard race was 19.614 earning a speed index of 99. The track was listed as muddy (sealed) for all three stakes tonight.

Finishing second was Jordan Eagle. Moment of Fury got the show followed by This Guys a Volcom, Fast Prize Drew, Ahs Streakin Patriot, Abygale and Jakes Baby Wagon. New News and The Fish Cartel were both scratched from the race.

Congratulations to all of the winning connections!

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS GRIDIRON CHALLENGE SERIES FIRST QUALIFYER SEES TWO WINNERS ADVANCE

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, September 28, 2018) – It wasn’t a dead-heat that produced two winners from the first 100-yard qualifying round in the Gridiron Challenge Series here tonight. The cause was too many entrants, 18 total to be exact, therefore warranting the split into two races with nine each.  The series has two more qualifying races before the final. The next is Friday, October 12, and the third on Friday, October 26. First and second place finishers of each qualifier will advance to the final which is scheduled to be run on Friday, November 9.

The first was the 7th race on the 12-race program. Owner/trainer Janessa Lee Muniz’  Papi Chulo Jm was first to the finish covering the 100-yard distance in 6.598 seconds.
The 5-yr-old stallion by Pappasito, shook his head up and down in the gate as if to say “let’s go I’m ready,” and ready he was! With jockey Jose Herbert aboard, he was first out of the gate and to the wire. A $2 bet on the winner returned $54.40. Poise N Courage finished a nose behind Papi Chulo Jm for the place. The pair earn automatic berths into the final.

The 11th race was the other half of the first in the 100-yard challenge series. Before the starter clicked the button, Bluemoonteller became restless and broke through her gate, but was quickly rushed around and back into position. When the gates opened it was Dashing Sashay quickly away scoring a one-length victory over the rest. Time for the 100-yard dash was 6.312 seconds, just barely one-hundredth of a second over the track record of 6.210.The
3-yr-old filly by One Dashing Eagle, is trained by Adrian Huitron and was ridden by Victor Urieta, Jr. Dashing Sashay was the favorite returning $3.40. She earned a speed index of 111 for the effort. Second place went to Alezzandro. The two will meet again in the final.
