LONE STAR PARK SEASON ENDS WITH RECORD-SETTING GAINS IN AVERAGE DAILY HANDLE FOR 2ND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Sunday, July 22, 2018) –  Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie concluded its 22nd Thoroughbred Season Thursday with a record increase of 14.7% in average daily handle over 2017. That increase tops last year’s increase over 2016 of 11.7%, which set a track record a year ago. Daily average on-track handle on Lone Star increased 5.7% from 2017 and daily average export Handle increased by 17.6%.

Especially noticeable is the growth over the last two seasons. Daily average export handle increased 36.4% from 2016 and is indicative of the increased awareness from a High-Definition upgrade to our video production beginning with the 2018 season as well as airing our races on the TVG Network beginning in 2017. Additionally, our racing product was more attractive to bettors with an average field size of 8.4 starters per race, which was above the industry average and nearly a 1 horse per race increase over 2017. The increased field size was helped by a purse increase this season.

The all sources handle daily average of just over $1 Million per day is the highest daily average since the 2010 Thoroughbred Season.

LONE STAR PARK RACING CLUB JUST CAN’T SEEM TO LOSE, RACKS UP THIRD WIN OF THE MEET

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, July 14, 2018) – Friday the 13th turned out to be super lucky for the Lone Star Park Racing Club as their horse Fred’s Lucky Boy won the first race on the card, giving the club its third win for the meet.

Under the guidance of jockey Lane Luzzi, Fred’s Lucky Boy raced just off the pace, went four wide in the turn and with a bid led under a drive to get up by three-quarters over favorite Reflector. I’m a Rock lead until the final sixteenth, but could only hold on for show.

Luzzi has been aboard for all three of the clubs victories and the members love him. They raved about how perfect he has ridden each of the three races for them. The same praise was lauded on trainer J. R. Caldwell for a job well done.

“Much appreciation for making this racing club a wonderful and enjoyable

Experience,” said club member Ruth Rohloff. “It’s been great fun owning horses and interesting learning what goes on behind the scenes in thoroughbred horse racing.”

Like Lodi Street, the clubs first winner, Fred’s Lucky Boy was claimed from the race. That leaves the club with Peej. It’s possible they could have one more start with Peej before the final day of racing next Sunday. Could they possibly get a fourth win before it’s all said and done? It wouldn’t be a reach to think it possible with the success they’ve had.
