LONE STAR PARK CANCELS RACES DUE TO SEVERE HEAT

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, July 20, 2018) – Due to the severe heat, with the interest of safety being paramount for the horses and horsemen, Lone Star Park has no choice but to cancel this weekend.

The decision was unanimous between the Texas Racing Commission Veterinarian, the State Stewards and Lone Star Park Officials.

Mandatory payouts of the Fortune Six and Super High Five will carry until the next performance of live racing here at the track. Live racing for the Quarter Horse Season opens Friday, September 19.

Fans can continue playing Saratoga, Del Mar and many other racetracks around the country at tracks at the Bar & Book. The Bar & Book is open daily at 10:30 am until last race post time.

LONE STAR PARK RACING CLUB JUST CAN’T SEEM TO LOSE, RACKS UP THIRD WIN OF THE MEET

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Saturday, July 14, 2018) – Friday the 13th turned out to be super lucky for the Lone Star Park Racing Club as their horse Fred’s Lucky Boy won the first race on the card, giving the club its third win for the meet.

Under the guidance of jockey Lane Luzzi, Fred’s Lucky Boy raced just off the pace, went four wide in the turn and with a bid led under a drive to get up by three-quarters over favorite Reflector. I’m a Rock lead until the final sixteenth, but could only hold on for show.

Luzzi has been aboard for all three of the clubs victories and the members love him. They raved about how perfect he has ridden each of the three races for them. The same praise was lauded on trainer J. R. Caldwell for a job well done.

“Much appreciation for making this racing club a wonderful and enjoyable

Experience,” said club member Ruth Rohloff. “It’s been great fun owning horses and interesting learning what goes on behind the scenes in thoroughbred horse racing.”

Like Lodi Street, the clubs first winner, Fred’s Lucky Boy was claimed from the race. That leaves the club with Peej. It’s possible they could have one more start with Peej before the final day of racing next Sunday. Could they possibly get a fourth win before it’s all said and done? It wouldn’t be a reach to think it possible with the success they’ve had.

RETIRING RACEHORSES ARE LOOKING FOR NEW HOMES COULD YOU USE ONE?

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (July 3, 2018) –Lone Star Park to host The Paddock Foundation’s 4th Annual Roses to Ribbons Old Fashioned Horse Fair Saturday, July 7. The fair begins at 10 a.m. and will wrap at noon. Please mark your calendars to attend. The track will be dark for live racing that day. There is no charge for the event and parking is also free. Please enter through the east Grandstand entrance.

This event offers Thoroughbred racehorses ready to retire and be trained for a new career as show horses, trail horses or just as pets. The possibilities are endless for these versatile equines. The event is opened to the public and we encourage any and every one wanting to own a Thoroughbred to attend. Prospective new owners will be able to view and examine these retiring Thoroughbred horses and speak with the trainers who are offering them and privately negotiate a price. These horses will be in the saddling paddock.

There will be concessions and vendors offering items for sale as well, such as County Saddlery and Equine artist Joanna Zeller Quentin offering art from her Moose Pants Studio. Plus non-profits Blue Skies Therapeutic Riding Center and The Paddock Foundation will be here. The Paddock Foundation will be holding raffles for various items throughout the event.

Thoroughbreds are beautiful and intelligent animals and we want to help them find new homes where they can thrive in a second career after they retire from racing.

The Paddock Foundation is a non-profit organization created by the Texas Thoroughbred Association to support and advance aftercare for the Thoroughbred race horse. For more information please contact the Texas Thoroughbred Association at (512)458-6133 or visit facebook.com/thepaddockfoundation.
